Kiteboarding has always been about defying gravity—soaring higher, pushing harder, and embracing the raw power of the wind. Red Bull King of the Air, the ultimate test of skill, style, and sheer guts, has long been at the forefront of this evolution. In 2025, the competition takes another bold leap forward with more Qualifier events, offering more riders than ever before a shot at competing on kiteboarding’s biggest stage.

Recognizing the sport’s explosive growth, Red Bull is beefing up its qualifying event across Europe, opening doors for rising talent to prove themselves against the best. With three stops leading up to the legendary Red Bull King of the Air main event in Cape Town, South Africa, in December 2025, the stakes have never been higher—and the opportunity never greater.
“I expect these events to be not only an opportunity to select the best talents but also a chance to build a more inclusive community, celebrate diversity, and push the boundaries of this spectacular sport even further,”.
commented Series Sportive Director, Sergio Cantagalli

Big Air is not just about height—it’s about progression. Following the groundbreaking introduction of the Women’s Division in 2024, the 2025 Red Bull King of the Air will once again feature both Open and Women’s categories, solidifying its commitment to fostering diversity and elevating the sport.
”We’re incredibly proud to continue growing the Women’s Division. This has been a long time coming, and to see these athletes push the limits on the biggest stage is nothing short of inspiring.”
Cantagalli said:

“Winning last year’s event was a dream come true, but the level keeps rising. These qualifiers are going to bring fresh talent, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table.”
For reigning Red Bull King of The Air champion Andrea Principi, last year’s victory was the pinnacle of his career—but he knows the competition is only getting fiercer:
