Robin Goomes Claims Victory at the Second Edition of Women’s Red Bull Rampage

New Zealander lands two backflips to win for the second straight year

Defending champion Robin Goomes (New Zealand) made history once again at the 2025 Women’s Red Bull Rampage, taking victory for the second consecutive year after delivering a groundbreaking run that redefined freeride mountain biking. Held on Friday, 17 October 2025, at the rugged sandstone cliffs of Virgin, Utah, the event showcased the world’s best female freeriders pushing the limits of creativity, control, and courage.

With a score of 89.50 points, Goomes dominated the contest with a run that included two Suicide No-Handers, a Crankflip, and two flawless Backflips — the only rider to land two during finals. Her precision and power earned her back-to-back titles, joining Brandon Semenuk as one of the few athletes ever to achieve such a feat at Rampage.

Coming in just behind Goomes was Hannah Bergemann (USA) with 89.33 points, who also earned the McGazza Spirit Award for her positive energy and sportsmanship. Making her debut after missing last year’s event due to injury, Bergemann conquered one of the most exposed lines on the course, including a bold backflip over a big double jump. Georgia Astle (Canada) rounded out the podium with 87.66 points, showcasing technical control and composure in her second consecutive top-three finish.

Argentina’s Cami Nogueira, despite dislocating her elbow during training, returned to deliver one of the most committed runs of the day, earning her the BFGoodrich Tires Toughness Award. Meanwhile, Kirsten Van Horne took home the Utah Sports Commission Best Trick Award for her gutsy Suicide No-Hander off a major drop.

A Landmark Moment for Women’s Freeride

The 2025 Women’s Red Bull Rampage, held on the same site that hosted Red Bull Formation in 2019 and 2022, marked another milestone for women’s freeride mountain biking. Seven elite riders, supported by two-person dig teams, spent days crafting their own lines using only hand tools — a test of endurance, imagination, and technical mastery.

“It’s amazing to see how far women’s freeride has come. This terrain has so much opportunity for creative riding, and to be part of this event feels surreal.”

The Spirit of Red Bull Rampage

Often dubbed the “Super Bowl of mountain biking,” Red Bull Rampage has been the ultimate test of freeride skill, bravery, and creativity since its debut in 2001. Riders build and ride their own lines down Utah’s iconic desert cliffs, judged on difficulty, execution, amplitude, and style.

The 2025 edition marks a new era — expanding into two adrenaline-filled competition days with the women’s event on 17 October and the men’s event on 19 October both streamed live.

For Goomes, the back-to-back win reinforces her position as one of the leading figures in women’s freeride.

“The main goal is to ride your run well. Obviously, I wanted to win, but all you can do is ride your best — and if you can do that, you’ve got a good chance.”
