Swatch Nines Bike is gearing up for another groundbreaking edition in 2026 as the world-renowned action sports event returns to Bike Republic Sölden in Austria from June 15–20. This year marks a major evolution for the event, with BMX officially joining mountain biking on equal footing for the very first time.
Known for redefining the limits of creativity and progression in action sports, Swatch Nines continues to push boundaries by merging BMX and MTB cultures into one massive playground in the Austrian Alps.
BMX Officially Joins Swatch Nines
While BMX athletes have appeared at previous Swatch Nines events, 2026 is the first year the discipline will receive full representation with its own dedicated setup and rider roster.
The addition of BMX opens up exciting creative possibilities as BMX and MTB athletes share features, collaborate on tricks, and inspire each other throughout the week-long event.
The expanded format reflects Swatch Nines’ “by riders, for riders” philosophy, focusing less on competition and more on progression, creativity, and community.
A Bigger and Better Setup in Sölden
For its third consecutive year in Sölden, the Swatch Nines venue is being rebuilt and redesigned into an even more ambitious riding destination.
The 2026 course will feature:
- A brand-new BMX pavilion
- Intertwining Slopestyle and Freeride lines
- Expanded creative riding zones
- Custom-built features for both BMX and MTB athletes
The setup promises to deliver one of the most versatile and visually spectacular bike playgrounds ever created for the event.
Public Days Give Fans Front-Row Access
Fans will once again have the opportunity to witness the action live during two special Public Days:
- Thursday, June 18 – Public Night Show
- Saturday, June 20 – Day Session
Entry is free, with shuttle services available to transport spectators to and from the venue.
The event will also run alongside the BRS Festival from June 18–21, adding music, entertainment, and festival energy to the week-long celebration of bike culture.
Opportunities for Upcoming Riders
Swatch Nines 2026 isn’t only for elite professionals. Emerging riders will also get their shot through the “Become A Nine” video contest, which offers wildcard entries for talented BMX and MTB riders worldwide.
In addition, Senders Academy will launch a video contest beginning 8 May, selecting 20 riders to experience the Nines setup firsthand. Two standout performers will earn the chance to ride during the Public Day session on June 20.
Riders Celebrate the Unique Swatch Nines Atmosphere
German MTB rider Erik Fedko described the event as a pressure-free environment where riders can truly push their limits while enjoying the experience with friends and fellow athletes.
Johanna Nussbaumer highlighted the event’s strong sense of community and creativity, emphasizing that cycling is about expression, fun, and bringing people together rather than simply winning contests.
BMX rider George Ntavoutian called Swatch Nines “a massive session,” praising the collaborative atmosphere where riders constantly build, experiment, and encourage each other throughout the week.
More Than a Contest
Unlike traditional sporting competitions, Swatch Nines has built its reputation around innovation and imagination. Across its Snow, Surf, and Bike events, the platform has spent nearly two decades creating unique environments where athletes can explore what’s possible beyond standard contest formats.
With BMX now fully integrated into the Bike edition, Swatch Nines 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and progressive editions yet.
