Since its launch in 2000, Red Bull King of the Air has become the ultimate proving ground for big air kiteboarding. Riders from around the globe use the platform to unveil new tricks, defy gravity with massive jumps, and redefine what’s possible in the sport. The 2024 edition drew crowds of over 7,000 spectators daily and more than 30,000 viewers online via Red Bull TV, underlining the competition’s global reach and cultural impact.

“We’re witnessing the sport evolve before our eyes. The 2024 Women’s Division was a game-changer — Francesca Maini’s combos set a new benchmark. We expect 2025 to go even further.”

said Sergio Cantagalli, Sportive Director

Video Entry Details

Kiteboarders worldwide now have until 10 October 2025, to submit a 60-second video showcasing their top 5 big air tricks. These entries will be reviewed by the Red Bull King of the Air Judging Panel using the same high standards applied during the live event. This open call offers a rare opportunity for rising stars to earn their place alongside the sport’s elite — including 2024 finalists, qualifier event winners, and wildcards.

Judging Criteria

  • Height + Extremity: How high the rider goes and how risky the maneuver is
  • Variety: A broad mix of different tricks and technical moves
  • Execution: Smooth landings, clean rotations, and overall control
  • Overall Impression: Creativity, flow, and showmanship

The selected entrants will be announced in late October, setting the stage for an explosive showdown during Cape Town’s prime wind window.

How to Enter

To enter, riders must visit redbullkingoftheair.com and follow the submission guidelines. All footage must be original, filmed within the past 12 months, and must not include any clips from previous Red Bull King of the Air events. There is no limit on the number of video entries a rider can submit.

The competition format in 2025 will once again feature knockout heats, where three riders face off per heat, and winners advance directly while others must battle through additional rounds. With both Open and Women’s divisions returning, the field promises to be more competitive and progressive than ever.

Whether you’re an aspiring kiteboarder looking for your shot or a fan of high-octane action sports, Red Bull King of the Air 2025 is the event to watch — and for a lucky few, to ride in.

Think you’ve got what it takes to soar with the best? Submit your video by 10th October and be part of kiteboarding history.
