The stage is officially set for South Africa’s premier BMX Freestyle event – the 2025 BMX Freestyle South African Championships, taking place at the Park Lines BMX Tournament on Saturday, 7 June at the all-new SkyLab Skatepark in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
Presented by LW Mag and Dragon Energy, in association with Garmin, Balwin Properties, Fox, and Mongoose, this high-adrenaline event is expected to draw top BMX Freestyle riders from across the country as they compete for the coveted title of South African BMX Freestyle Champion.
This year marks a significant milestone as the tournament will be hosted at the recently opened SkyLab Skatepark – a purpose-built BMX Freestyle facility based at the Jozi-X Adventure Park. Riders will have access to a variety of park features designed to test their creativity, technical skills, and overall flow as they go head-to-head in both Pro and Amateur Divisions.
Competitors will battle it out in the qualifying rounds, with judges scoring based on use-of-park, variation, style, tricks, and amplitude, determining who advances to the high-stakes finals. Pro riders will be competing for a cash prize purse, a Garmin Instinct 3 Smartwatch, and other exciting prizes from the event sponsors. Meanwhile, Amateur Division entrants stand a chance to win a brand-new Mongoose BMX and other gear.
The day’s action will conclude with a Best Trick Competition, open to all participating riders – a crowd-favorite where creativity and daring moves reign supreme.
Spectators are encouraged to come out and experience the energy, passion, and progression of South African BMX Freestyle. The Park Lines BMX Tournament is not just a competition—it’s a celebration of community, talent, and the future of the sport.
