Red Bull Hardline BC Set for Historic Canadian Debut

Hybrid Event

October 17 All day

The legendary Red Bull Hardline is heading to Canada for the very first time, with Red Bull Hardline British Columbia officially scheduled for 17 October 2026. Set against the breathtaking terrain of Cypress Mountain, the event marks a bold new chapter for what is widely regarded as the toughest downhill mountain biking race on the planet.

A New Frontier for the Toughest MTB Event

Since its creation by Dan Atherton in 2014 in Wales, Red Bull Hardline has redefined the limits of downhill riding. Known for combining elite racing speed with freeride-style creativity, the event has become the ultimate proving ground for the world’s best riders.

Now, the rugged landscapes of British Columbia—particularly Vancouver’s North Shore, often considered the birthplace of freeride MTB—will host this iconic competition. Riders can expect steep descents, massive jumps, technical rock gardens, and drops exceeding 10 meters, all set against a dramatic coastal mountain backdrop.

Designed by Legends

The BC course is being designed by Dan Atherton alongside his brother Gee Atherton, ensuring the signature Hardline intensity carries over into this new environment. Built in collaboration with expert trail builders and local riders, the track promises a perfect blend of technical downhill racing and freeride innovation.

Dan Atherton highlighted the challenge of finding the perfect location, noting that British Columbia’s iconic features—huge rock slabs, towering trees, and rich dirt—set an incredibly high standard. After two years of searching, Cypress Mountain emerged as the ideal venue.

Riders Ready for the Challenge

Canadian stars are especially excited about the event’s arrival on home soil. Gracey Hemstreet admitted the course is both intimidating and thrilling, predicting it could be the best edition yet, with massive crowds expected.

For Jackson Goldstone, the event represents a full-circle moment. Competing in one of the world’s most prestigious MTB events in his hometown is a milestone not just for him, but for Canadian mountain biking as a whole.

Looking Ahead

With its expansion to North America, Red Bull Hardline British Columbia is set to deliver one of the most spectacular and challenging editions in the event’s history—cementing its place at the pinnacle of downhill mountain biking.
