Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle Kicks Off with the Pretoria Qualifier at State Theatre

Pretoria Sets the Stage for the Return of Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle

The wait is over — Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle 2025 officially launches with the Pretoria Qualifier on Saturday, 26 October 2025, at the legendary State Theatre. The capital city will come alive with the sound of beats, the energy of competition, and the power of dance as South Africa’s most talented street crews bring their A-game to the floor.

Following an explosive debut in 2024, this year’s Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle returns bigger, bolder, and more inclusive than ever. The Pretoria leg marks the first of three regional qualifiers leading up to the National Final at Constitution Hill, Johannesburg on 7 December 2025.

Where Rhythm Meets Culture

Known for its electric atmosphere and passionate dance community, Pretoria is the perfect city to kick off the 2025 season. The State Theatre will transform into a battleground where styles like Amapiano, Pantsula, and Sbujwa collide — showcasing the diversity and creativity that define South Africa’s street dance culture.

Crews will deliver choreographed routines before going head-to-head in freestyle battles judged by both the crowd and an expert panel. With the unique 50/50 Round twist — where losing a round means losing half your crew — only the strongest, most dynamic teams will advance to the national stage.

The Judges and Hosts Bringing the Heat

The Pretoria Qualifier features a powerhouse lineup of judges who represent the heartbeat of South African dance:

• Hope Ramafalo – International dance icon known for her energy and global influence
• Sithembiso Makhanya – Pantsula legend and cultural innovator
• Sipho Didiza – Renowned choreographer for Honey 3 and Step Up or Step Out
• Nhlanhla Chiliza – Youth activist using dance as a force for community empowerment
• Tlhogi Molefe – Award-winning Amapiano choreographer from Soweto

Hosting the event is Sne Mbatha, the fierce performer and dynamic MC, alongside the DubeTwiinz, who will bring infectious beats and energy to every round.

A Movement Bigger Than Dance

More than just a competition, Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle celebrates South Africa’s creative heartbeat — a space where music, movement, and culture unite. It’s about more than who wins; it’s about expression, unity, and the power of street dance to inspire the next generation.

Don’t miss the chance to witness the energy, creativity, and passion of Mzansi’s best dance crews as they battle for a place in the National Final.
