UCI Mountain Bike World Series Festival, Haute-Savoie – Châtel, Les Gets, Morzine-Avoriaz
September 9, 2023
The UCI Mountain Bike World Series Festival Haute-Savoie, taking place in Châtel, Les Gets and Morzine-Avoriaz, will combine no less that 20 individual UCI Mountain Bike World Cup races alongside a 10-day festival that celebrates mountain biking within this iconic French region, from September 7 – 17.
The Festival starts in Les Gets, where we’ll see cross-country and downhill athletes go bar-to-bar. The cross-country track has hosted some of the closest fought battles of recent seasons whilst the downhill track is one of the most heralded and fastest in the world.
There’s a whole festival of events running alongside the racing, with activities both on and off the bike to keep the whole family entertained. From ride outs to autograph sessions with top athletes to film nights, it’s going to be an action packed ten days!
The focus then shifts to Châtel and Morzine-Avoriaz which have long been two of Europe’s most respected mountain bike destinations thanks to their vast networks of trails which cater to pretty much every set of off-road abilities. The marathon race play out around the legendary trails in Morzine-Avoriaz whilst the Enduro stages will be anchored around the famously tough and rewarding Châtel.
With more than 600km of dedicated mountain bike trails and 24 lifts available, the Portes du Soleil in Haute-Savoie is the perfect host for this exciting new festival. With an outstanding natural heritage, Les Portes du Soleil is the spot for outdoor sports lovers.
Between mountain pastures, alpine forests, summits on the Mont-Blanc and scenery across Lake Geneva, the Swiss Alps and the Dents du Midi, the surroundings will amaze riders and spectators alike.
About Haute-Savoie
The Haute-Savoie region has hosted no less than six rounds of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in the past, as well as the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships twice in Les Gets, most recently in August 2022. However, the 2023 edition will be the first time the Portes du Soleil region has brought all the major mountain bike formats together in a single event.
This major venue will host multi-format races combined with a festival atmosphere designed to entertain fans and gather the mountain bike industry into one space. For the first time, this will happen across back-to-back weekends. With these major formats united in a single area, riders, teams and fans can look forward to more racing than ever before!
A festival atmosphere designed to entertain fans and gather the mountain bike industry into one space is promised throughout, giving racers the ability to not only battle it out between the tapes but also to fully immerse themselves in everything two-wheeled.
