SUMMARY:EFC 122: The Biggest and Most Violent – Two Explosive Title Fights Set for April 10th
DESCRIPTION:EFC 122: The Biggest and Most Violent – A Night of War Awaits \n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, April 10\, 2025\, the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) 122 promises to deliver an unforgettable night of high-octane combat at the World Sports Betting Arena in Johannesburg. Headlined by two explosive title fights\, this card is stacked with Africa’s biggest MMA stars\, making it one of the most highly anticipated events in EFC history. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMain Event: Morel vs. Moyo – A Heavyweight Clash for the Ages \n\n\n\nEFC Heavyweight Champion Anthony ‘Big’ Morel is set to make his first title defense against a true African combat sports legend\, Elvis ‘The Bomber’ Moyo. Morel\, a powerhouse from Réunion Island\, captured the title in dominant fashion last year by knocking out Englishman JoEie Houlton in the first round. \n\n\n\nHowever\, his challenger is no ordinary fighter—Moyo is a Zimbabwean boxing icon with a track record of defeating some of the toughest heavyweights in EFC history\, including Strauss\, Mbuyi\, Misholas\, Vermuelen\, and Yamdjie. Known for his iron chin and devastating punching power\, ‘The Bulawayo Bomber’ will test Morel’s limits in what promises to be a heavyweight war. \n\n\n\nCo-Main Event: Jacobs vs. Sovendle – A Battle for Bantamweight Gold \n\n\n\nTwo-time EFC Bantamweight Champion Faeez ‘Troublemaker’ Jacobs is back to defend his title against one of the most dangerous contenders in the division\, Sibusiso ‘Somandla’ Sovendle. \n\n\n\nJacobs\, a fan-favorite from Cape Town\, reclaimed his title last year at EFC 117\, defeating Vince Bembe via second-round submission. Having already avenged his past loss to Sylvester Chipfumbu\, Jacobs has proven his dominance in the 135lb division. \n\n\n\nBut standing in his way is Pretoria’s own wrecking machine\, Sovendle. Fighting out of Brothers in Arms\, the ‘Triple S’ striker has carved his way to a title shot by finishing five top-ranked opponents\, including Roevan de Beer and Ntando Zondi. With his relentless aggression and ironclad durability\, Sovendle poses the biggest threat yet to Jacobs’ reign. \n\n\n\nThe Rest of the Card: A Night of Carnage Awaits \n\n\n\nBeyond these two massive championship fights\, EFC 122 features a 12-fight lineup stacked with elite talent ready to shake the foundations of the sport. Expect knockouts\, submissions\, and all-out wars as Africa’s best fighters clash inside the cage. \n\n\n\nEFC 122 is set to be one of the most violent and unforgettable nights in African MMA history. Don’t miss it!

SUMMARY:UFC 312: Du Plessis vs Strickland 2 – The Rematch Set to Ignite Sydney
DESCRIPTION:The UFC middleweight championship is on the line as South Africa‘s Dricus Du Plessis (22-2) defends his title against former champion Sean Strickland (29-6) in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 312. The stage is set at the iconic Qudos Bank Arena\, the same venue where Strickland shocked the MMA world by defeating Israel Adesanya to claim the belt last year.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Backstory\n\n\n\n\n\nDricus Du Plessis\, riding high as the reigning middleweight champion\, has been a dominant force in the division. After dethroning Strickland earlier in 2024\, Du Plessis has proven himself as one of the most versatile and resilient fighters in the UFC. His record of 22 wins\, 17 by stoppage\, speaks volumes about his ability to finish fights.\n\n\n\n\n\nHowever\, Sean Strickland is no stranger to adversity or comebacks. With a record of 29 wins and a reputation for his unorthodox fighting style and relentless pressure\, Strickland is determined to reclaim his title. He is motivated not only by revenge but also by the fond memories of his previous triumph in the same arena.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Fighters’ Statements\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“This time they won’t call it a robbery\, they’ll call it attempted murder. #UFC312 #preparetobeamazed.”\n\nDu Plessis took to Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to express his confidence and readiness for the rematch. He posted:\n\n\n\n\n\n“Just for clarification\, I preferred the Khamzat fight\, but the rematch is a fight most wanted before Khamzat vs Whittaker. I’m not unhappy with the UFC’s decision. Like I said\, I’ll fight the man fans think is the next best guy—he was promised the fight\, so Strickland it is.”\n\nHe also clarified his stance on the matchup\, noting:\n\n\n\n\n\n“Time to bring back some freedom to Australia. 🇺🇸🇦🇺👊 Deny\, Depose\, Defend… No idea where this saying is from or who said it\, but I like it. Real catchy… but no idea.”\n\nStrickland\, never one to shy away from bold statements\, posted:\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s at Stake\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Du Plessis\, this is an opportunity to solidify his reign as middleweight champion and continue his legacy as South Africa‘s top MMA fighter. A victory would further establish him as one of the most dominant champions in the division’s history.\n\n\n\n\n\nFor Strickland\, this fight is about redemption. A win would not only make him a two-time middleweight champion but also reaffirm his place among the UFC elite.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Venue\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Qudos Bank Arena\, located in Sydney Olympic Park\, holds special significance for Strickland\, as it was the site of his career-defining win against Adesanya. The Australian crowd will once again witness an electrifying night of MMA as two of the best middleweights clash.\n\n\n\n\n\nFinal Thoughts\n\n\n\n\n\nWith contrasting styles\, undeniable talent\, and a history of animosity\, Du Plessis vs. Strickland 2 promises to deliver fireworks. The rematch is not just a fight for the belt; it’s a battle for pride\, legacy\, and the middleweight division’s future.\n\n\n\n\n\nMark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable night of action at UFC 312. Will Du Plessis continue his reign\, or will Strickland reclaim the throne? The answer lies in the Octagon on 9 February 2025.\n\n\n\n\n\nDate: Sunday\, 9 February 2025\nTime: 5:00 AM (CAT)\nLocation: Qudos Bank Arena\, Sydney Olympic Park\, Australia

SUMMARY:UFC 305
DESCRIPTION:UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis is set to defend his title for the first time against former champion Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. The highly anticipated bout will take place on 18 August 2024\, at the RAC Arena in Perth\, Australia. This fight marks a significant moment in du Plessis’s career\, following his victory over Sean Strickland at UFC 297 in January\, where he became the first South African UFC champion.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdesanya\, eager to reclaim his title\, announced the fight on social media\, which came as a surprise to UFC President Dana White.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Apparently he already announced his own fight\,”.\n\nWhite remarked on The Jim Rome Show\n\n\n\n\nThis announcement bypassed the usual UFC protocols\, showcasing Adesanya’s proactive approach to securing his shot at the title.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe rivalry between du Plessis and Adesanya has been brewing since UFC 290 in July last year. Du Plessis’s comments about being the first “born\, bred\, and trained African champion” did not sit well with Adesanya\, who is Nigerian-born and now trains in New Zealand. This led to a heated exchange after du Plessis’s fight\, with Adesanya suggesting a DNA test to prove du Plessis’s African heritage\, to which du Plessis responded by calling Adesanya’s behavior unchampion-like and childlike.\n\n\n\n\n\nDu Plessis\, who remains undefeated in the UFC with seven consecutive victories\, has been preparing for this title defense with a focused mindset.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“This is just the beginning of the championship reign and the Dricus du Plessis era\,”.\n\nhe stated after his victory over Strickland\n\n\n\n\nAdesanya\, on the other hand\, has optimized his training and nutrition\, declaring his intention to come back stronger after his loss to Strickland in September 2023.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe fight between du Plessis and Adesanya was one of the worst-kept secrets in the UFC\, with both fighters hinting at the matchup in various interviews. The official confirmation of the fight came after UFC CEO Dana White inadvertently revealed UFC 305’s matchmaking board in a social media post\, which fans quickly noticed.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdesanya\, known as “The Last Stylebender\,” aims to make history by becoming the first three-time middleweight champion if he defeats du Plessis. His career\, marked by a reign from 2019 to 2023 and a brief loss and regain of the title against Alex Pereira\, showcases his resilience and determination.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs the fight date approaches\, excitement builds not only for the UFC 305 main event but also for the sporting spectacle in Perth\, with the Springboks facing Australia in a Rugby Championship fixture on the same night. This convergence of major sporting events underscores the significance of August 18 in the world of sports.\n\n\n\n\n\nFans eagerly await the clash between du Plessis and Adesanya\, a fight that promises to be a defining moment in both fighters’ careers and a thrilling addition to the UFC’s storied history.

SUMMARY:EFC 109
DESCRIPTION:On the 9th of November\, one of the most bitter and acrimonious rivalries in EFC history will reach its final and dramatic conclusion inside the Hexagon\, as veteran middleweights and sworn enemies Conrad ‘Cagewise’ Seabi and Dino ‘The Lion’ Bagattin settle their significant personal differences with their fists.\n\n\n\n\n\nEven though both had hung up the gloves in recent times following lengthy campaigns during truly spectacular and storied careers\, an escalating series of altercations spectacularly boiled-over as tempers eventually erupted at EFC 106 where Bagattin assaulted his archenemy backstage\, requiring Night Guard to urgently intervene to separate the belligerents and prevent serious injury.\n\n\n\n\n\nBagattin was immediately suspended from the EFC for the heinous attack\, prompting Seabi to instantly ask the promotion for the opportunity to settle the score inside the Hex in the only way he knows how\, an offer Bagattin accepted without hesitation.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs former welterweight champion\, ‘The Lion’ ran through a succession of the toughest athletes competing at the time\, with sensational victories over the likes of Tyron Rightford\, Michiel Opperman and Dallas Jakobi whilst his opponent was having his hand raised over Sizwe Mnikathi\, Max Merten and Wade Henderson. Yet through a mixture of fate and divisional differences\, their paths leading to the cage never crossed. Until now.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a superfight that is a true fans delight\, two of the most experienced 185lb’ers looking to legally destroy the other under the auspices of a watchful athletic commission instead of law enforcement. And while EFC pundits and viewers around the world were imploring Bagattin to make one last dance for the fans\, the real irony is that it took a sworn enemy like Seabi to tempt the Lion back into the cage. Whether ‘Cagewise’ will roar with victory or the one to be tamed remains to be seen for all on the 9th of November in Johannesburg\, where bad blood will be spilt and this saga savagely settled.\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 109 presented by World Sports Betting takes place on Thursday 9 November live from The EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 108
DESCRIPTION:In an exciting announcement that has sent shockwaves through the world of mixed martial arts\, the main event for EFC 108 has been officially set. Fans and fighters alike have eagerly awaited this moment\, and it’s now confirmed that the long-awaited rematch between two fierce competitors\, Musa Sethwape and Shannon Van Tonder\, will take center stage on 12 October.\n\n\n\n\n\nBut that’s not all; this time\, it’s not just about redemption and pride—the stakes have been raised higher than ever before. The main event at EFC 108 will see these warriors clash for the coveted Bantamweight Gold\, adding an extra layer of intensity to this already thrilling showdown.\n\n\n\n\n\nMusa Sethwape\, known for his resilience and striking prowess\, will be stepping back into the octagon with a burning desire to claim the championship title that eluded him in their previous encounter. On the other side of the cage\, Shannon Van Tonder\, a relentless and dynamic fighter\, is equally determined to prove his mettle and retain the Bantamweight Gold.\n\n\n\n\n\nHowever\, there’s a twist to this tale. This unexpected move has opened the door for Sethwape and Van Tonder to vie for the vacant Bantamweight championship and etch their names in MMA history.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe anticipation surrounding EFC 108 is at an all-time high\, and fight fans can expect an electrifying night of action\, showcasing the very best in South African mixed martial arts talent. With the added allure of a championship belt on the line\, this rematch promises to be an unforgettable battle between two warriors seeking to claim their place at the top of the Bantamweight division.\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 108 Van Tonder versus Sethwape for the Bantamweight title is presented by World Sports Betting and takes place on Thursday 12 October 2023 live from the EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 105
DESCRIPTION:Hot on the heels of the dramatic events last week at EFC 104\, Africa’s biggest combat sports entity is proud to announce it expects to exceed even that incredible night of action with EFC 105 now rubber-stamped with Musa Sethwape and Shannon van Tonder having inked contracts to compete for the 135lb title. After former champion and current UFC star Cameron Saaiman vacated the belt\, it was worn briefly by Zim sensation\, Nicholas Hwende who likewise vacated the title to compete abroad and now one of the deepest divisions in the EFC will find out on the 13th of July\, which one of its’ two top contenders will inherit a strap that continues to propel anyone who wears into into global stardom! Sethwape and Van Tonder competed previously at the historic EFC 100 event last year in a bout which failed to quell the bad blood between the two. Even though Sethwape took the decision win that night\, Van Tonder has since risen back to the top with a stunning first-round demolition of veteran Ashley Calvert this past April\, whilst Sethwape had yet to compete as a result of a training injury. Now with both fighters fit\, and with rankings dictating who deserves contention\, this rematch has everything! Bitter animosity with a massive quarrel to settle once and for all\, now with the added motivation of a championship title on the line. Eleven fights in total are locked for EFC 105\, including a massive featherweight clash between the undefeated Prince Lolia and CIT’s destructive Sizwe Mnikathi making this card appointment viewing for fight fans around the world and it all goes down in just three weeks time!\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 105 is presented by World Sports Betting and takes place on Thursday\, 13 July 2023\, live from the EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 104
DESCRIPTION:One shot at gold for Bembe\, one last fight for Kabesa.\n \nIn four weeks from now\, one of the most dominant combat sports athletes ever to perform on African soil\, Igeu Kabesa\, returns to defend his 145lb title\, and he does so perhaps for the very last time. He faces the number one contender\, the power-punching grappler\, Vince Bembe.\n \nMarking his 10th year at the top of the continent’s premier MMA organisation\, and after recently concluding a fight contract offer with a US based promotion\, ‘Smiley’ has chosen to put it all on the line and face a savage challenger who has earned contendership with a dizzying flurry of astounding finishes and gritty campaigns.\n \nCombining a thunderous right hand with a grinding submission game\, the determined MMA disciple is on a path to destroy the veteran wrestler and grab the belt. But Kabesa has a peerless highlight reel with a resumé of pure carnage against a plethora of greats and has dispatched many presumptuous challengers along the way to remain the greatest featherweight in the history of EFC.\n \nNow at EFC 104 on Thursday the 15th of June in the City of Gold\, Kabesa enters the arena and puts his most precious asset and the future of his career on the line against a man who has never been knocked-out and refuses to back down. The fight and outcome of Kabesa versus Bembe for the EFC featherweight championship marks a historic moment for both champion and challenger and marks a significant moment in time for the continued growth of African MMA.
