SUMMARY:UFC 299
DESCRIPTION:The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tour \n  \nThe most elite fighters in mixed martial arts do battle against each other in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In just over 25 years\, MMA has grown into one of the most popular of combat sports\, and UFC has grown to become the name to know in mixed martial arts. Some of the greatest fighters in history have been associated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While the brand has continued to grow worldwide\, on pay-per-view\, and with the hit reality series The Ultimate Fighter\, UFC action is best experienced at the dozens of live events produced each year. \n  \nThe Ultimate Fighting Championship originally started with a tournament at Denver\, Colorado’s McNichols Sports Arena on November 12\, 1993. It was an exhibition to determine which of a multitude of combat styles were the most effective\, including kickboxing\, kenpo\, shootfighting\, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.  \n  \nOut of this evolved what is now known as mixed martial arts\, where fighters combine several styles in order to knock out their opponents or drive them into submission. UFC entered the world of women’s mixed martial arts in 2012 with the signing of Ronda Rousey\, and has quickly become the premier organization for women’s MMA as well. \n  \nUFC sanctions titles in nine weight classes\, with women competing in the strawweight\, flyweight\, bantamweight\, and featherweight classes. Men compete in the flyweight classes and beyond as well as lightweight\, welterweight\, middleweight\, light heavyweight\, and heavyweight divisions.  \n  \nUltimate Fighting Championship bouts are fought using the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts\, passed by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission in 2001 and adopted by North America’s other governing bodies over the next decade. UFC fights are judged by the “10-point must system\,” for three to five rounds lasting three minutes each. Fights must end either by submission\, knockout\, technical knockout\, decision\, disqualification\, forfeit\, or in a no contest.

SUMMARY:EFC 109
DESCRIPTION:On the 9th of November\, one of the most bitter and acrimonious rivalries in EFC history will reach its final and dramatic conclusion inside the Hexagon\, as veteran middleweights and sworn enemies Conrad ‘Cagewise’ Seabi and Dino ‘The Lion’ Bagattin settle their significant personal differences with their fists.\n\n\n\n\n\nEven though both had hung up the gloves in recent times following lengthy campaigns during truly spectacular and storied careers\, an escalating series of altercations spectacularly boiled-over as tempers eventually erupted at EFC 106 where Bagattin assaulted his archenemy backstage\, requiring Night Guard to urgently intervene to separate the belligerents and prevent serious injury.\n\n\n\n\n\nBagattin was immediately suspended from the EFC for the heinous attack\, prompting Seabi to instantly ask the promotion for the opportunity to settle the score inside the Hex in the only way he knows how\, an offer Bagattin accepted without hesitation.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs former welterweight champion\, ‘The Lion’ ran through a succession of the toughest athletes competing at the time\, with sensational victories over the likes of Tyron Rightford\, Michiel Opperman and Dallas Jakobi whilst his opponent was having his hand raised over Sizwe Mnikathi\, Max Merten and Wade Henderson. Yet through a mixture of fate and divisional differences\, their paths leading to the cage never crossed. Until now.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a superfight that is a true fans delight\, two of the most experienced 185lb’ers looking to legally destroy the other under the auspices of a watchful athletic commission instead of law enforcement. And while EFC pundits and viewers around the world were imploring Bagattin to make one last dance for the fans\, the real irony is that it took a sworn enemy like Seabi to tempt the Lion back into the cage. Whether ‘Cagewise’ will roar with victory or the one to be tamed remains to be seen for all on the 9th of November in Johannesburg\, where bad blood will be spilt and this saga savagely settled.\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 109 presented by World Sports Betting takes place on Thursday 9 November live from The EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 108
DESCRIPTION:In an exciting announcement that has sent shockwaves through the world of mixed martial arts\, the main event for EFC 108 has been officially set. Fans and fighters alike have eagerly awaited this moment\, and it’s now confirmed that the long-awaited rematch between two fierce competitors\, Musa Sethwape and Shannon Van Tonder\, will take center stage on 12 October.\n\n\n\n\n\nBut that’s not all; this time\, it’s not just about redemption and pride—the stakes have been raised higher than ever before. The main event at EFC 108 will see these warriors clash for the coveted Bantamweight Gold\, adding an extra layer of intensity to this already thrilling showdown.\n\n\n\n\n\nMusa Sethwape\, known for his resilience and striking prowess\, will be stepping back into the octagon with a burning desire to claim the championship title that eluded him in their previous encounter. On the other side of the cage\, Shannon Van Tonder\, a relentless and dynamic fighter\, is equally determined to prove his mettle and retain the Bantamweight Gold.\n\n\n\n\n\nHowever\, there’s a twist to this tale. Zulu\, the reigning Bantamweight champion\, has made the bold decision to relinquish his championship belt in pursuit of a new challenge—the flyweight title. This unexpected move has opened the door for Sethwape and Van Tonder to vie for the vacant Bantamweight championship and etch their names in MMA history.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe anticipation surrounding EFC 108 is at an all-time high\, and fight fans can expect an electrifying night of action\, showcasing the very best in South African mixed martial arts talent. With the added allure of a championship belt on the line\, this rematch promises to be an unforgettable battle between two warriors seeking to claim their place at the top of the Bantamweight division.\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 108 Van Tonder versus Sethwape for the Bantamweight title is presented by World Sports Betting and takes place on Thursday 12 October 2023 live from the EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 105
DESCRIPTION:Hot on the heels of the dramatic events last week at EFC 104\, Africa’s biggest combat sports entity is proud to announce it expects to exceed even that incredible night of action with EFC 105 now rubber-stamped with Musa Sethwape and Shannon van Tonder having inked contracts to compete for the 135lb title. After former champion and current UFC star Cameron Saaiman vacated the belt\, it was worn briefly by Zim sensation\, Nicholas Hwende who likewise vacated the title to compete abroad and now one of the deepest divisions in the EFC will find out on the 13th of July\, which one of its’ two top contenders will inherit a strap that continues to propel anyone who wears into into global stardom! Sethwape and Van Tonder competed previously at the historic EFC 100 event last year in a bout which failed to quell the bad blood between the two. Even though Sethwape took the decision win that night\, Van Tonder has since risen back to the top with a stunning first-round demolition of veteran Ashley Calvert this past April\, whilst Sethwape had yet to compete as a result of a training injury. Now with both fighters fit\, and with rankings dictating who deserves contention\, this rematch has everything! Bitter animosity with a massive quarrel to settle once and for all\, now with the added motivation of a championship title on the line. Eleven fights in total are locked for EFC 105\, including a massive featherweight clash between the undefeated Prince Lolia and CIT’s destructive Sizwe Mnikathi making this card appointment viewing for fight fans around the world and it all goes down in just three weeks time!\n\n\n\n\n\nEFC 105 is presented by World Sports Betting and takes place on Thursday\, 13 July 2023\, live from the EFC Performance Institute in JHB\, South Africa.

SUMMARY:EFC 104
DESCRIPTION:One shot at gold for Bembe\, one last fight for Kabesa.\n \nIn four weeks from now\, one of the most dominant combat sports athletes ever to perform on African soil\, Igeu Kabesa\, returns to defend his 145lb title\, and he does so perhaps for the very last time. He faces the number one contender\, the power-punching grappler\, Vince Bembe.\n \nMarking his 10th year at the top of the continent’s premier MMA organisation\, and after recently concluding a fight contract offer with a US based promotion\, ‘Smiley’ has chosen to put it all on the line and face a savage challenger who has earned contendership with a dizzying flurry of astounding finishes and gritty campaigns.\n \nCombining a thunderous right hand with a grinding submission game\, the determined MMA disciple is on a path to destroy the veteran wrestler and grab the belt. But Kabesa has a peerless highlight reel with a resumé of pure carnage against a plethora of greats and has dispatched many presumptuous challengers along the way to remain the greatest featherweight in the history of EFC.\n \nNow at EFC 104 on Thursday the 15th of June in the City of Gold\, Kabesa enters the arena and puts his most precious asset and the future of his career on the line against a man who has never been knocked-out and refuses to back down. The fight and outcome of Kabesa versus Bembe for the EFC featherweight championship marks a historic moment for both champion and challenger and marks a significant moment in time for the continued growth of African MMA.
