SUMMARY:2024 FIA World Rally Championship: EKO Acropolis Rally Greece
DESCRIPTION:Challenge \n\nHard base roads and high temperatures require careful management of tyres and cars.\n\n\nConditions are especially tricky on repeated stages\, when rocks and bedrock unearthed during the first pass can be especially damaging.\n\n\nAvoid mechanical issues. An opening leg with no service and long morning and afternoon sections on Saturday mean technical troubles will be severely punished.\n\nCar spec \n\nGravel suspension.\n\n\nAdditional protection can be fitted to shield cars from the punishing roads.Servicepark\n\nLocated at the National Trade Fair in Lamia in central Greece\, 220km north of Athens.Drivers can raise the ride height to guard against rock-strewn roads during the second pass of stages.\nPirelli’s hard compound Scorpion tyres will be the template choice\, but soft compound rubber is also available. Each Rally1 crew will have a maximum of 28 tyres for the event\, including shakedown.\n\n\n\nHistory\n\nThe Acropolis Rally was first held in 1953 and was a founding member of the FIA World Rally Championship in 1973. In the 1970s it regularly comprised more than 50 stages and 850 competitive kilometres.\n\n\nApart from 1974\, when it was cancelled due to an oil crisis\, and 1995\, when it was an FIA Two-Litre Cup round only\, it remained in the series until 2010. It returned in 2011 but was dropped from the WRC at the end of 2013\, after which it became a European Championship round.\n\n\nIn 2005 the Acropolis was named Rally of the Year following a hugely successful super special stage in a packed Olympic Stadium in Athens.\n\n\nColin McRae is the Acropolis master with five wins between 1996 and 2002. He won twice in a Subaru Impreza before a hat-trick of wins from 2000 in a Ford Focus.\n\n\nOther winners include former world champions Walter Röhrl\, Björn Waldegård\, Ari Vatanen\, Miki Biasion\, Juha Kankkunen\, Carlos Sainz and Sébastien Loeb.\n\n\nFord tops the manufacturers’ roll of honour with 13 wins.

SUMMARY:FIA World Rallycross Championship 2024 - Portugal\, Montalegre
DESCRIPTION:The FIA World Rallycross Championship is pleased to present its 2024 calendar\, with the exhilarating dual-surface action set to bring fans to their feet as the eagerly-anticipated new ‘Battle of Technologies’ races into life.\n\n\n\n\n\nFor the first time in World RX history\, the cutting-edge electric RX1e cars – introduced two years ago – will go doorhandle-to-doorhandle with their sustainably-fuelled RX1 combustion counterparts as they rejoin the fray. This will add another fascinating dimension and an intriguing twist to what is already one of the most thrilling forms of motorsport on the planet.\n\n\n\n\n\nRatified by today’s FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting\, the 2024 schedule features five double-header fixtures totalling ten rounds\, preceded by a standalone FIA European Rallycross Championship curtain-raiser on 8-9 June at Essay in northern France – a circuit that last hosted Euro RX more than a decade ago.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe World Championship then kicks off at Höljes’ legendary ‘Magic Weekend’ in Sweden (6-7 July) – selected as the best event of 2023 at the recent FIA Off-Road Prize-Giving ceremony.\n\n\n\n\n\nThree weeks later\, competitors will head to Hungary\, as Nyirád’s famous ‘Red Cauldron’ – which has welcomed Euro RX for the past two seasons – steps up to World Championship level for the first time on 27-28 July.\n\n\n\n\n\nTwo popular World RX venues follow\, in the shape of Mettet in Belgium (17-18 August) and Montalegre in Portugal (7-8 September)\, before the series travels overseas. Discussions are ongoing to add an event in Asia to the calendar in the autumn\, ahead of a new season finale in Australia on 30 November – 1 December.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis will mark the first time the championship has set foot ‘Down Under’\, as World RX continues to explore new territories following its spectacular city-centre debut in Hong Kong last November.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“We’re excited to officially present the 2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar. A huge amount of hard work has gone into putting this schedule together\, and we must thank all of our stakeholders for their earnest efforts and support.\n\n\n\n\n\n“With a mixture of traditional rallycross favourites such as Höljes\, Montalegre and Mettet\, a very well-deserved promotion for Nyirád following two excellent European Championship events\, a maiden visit to Australia and a return to France\, we have a truly global and compelling calendar sure to whet the appetite of competitors and fans alike – and one befitting of such a landmark season as the ‘Battle of Technologies’ gets underway in style.\n\n\n\n\n\n“We are looking forward to seeing the RX1e cars back in action for the first time since last summer\, and curious to discover how they compare against the sustainably-fuelled combustion cars on the grid. As we all know in rallycross\, there will be absolutely no quarter given.\n\n\n\n\n\n“Looking further ahead\, we are already in the advanced stages of finalising next year’s plans\, with even more interest from major new markets\, so we look forward to confirming and presenting the 2025 World RX dates in due course.”\n\nArne Dirks\, Managing Director\, Rallycross Promoter GmbH\, said:\n\n\n\n\n2024 FIA World Rallycross Championship Calendar\n\n\n\n\n\nJune 8-9 Euro RX of France\, Essay (Euro RX only)\nJuly 6-7 World RX of Sweden\, Höljes\nJuly 27-28 World RX of Hungary\, Nyirád *\nAugust 17-18 World RX of Benelux\, Mettet\nSeptember 7-8 World RX of Portugal\, Montalegre\nNovember 30 – December 1 World RX of Australia\, TBA *\n\n\n\n\n\n* Subject to circuit homologation

SUMMARY:2024 FIA World Rally Championship: Rally Chile Bio Bío
DESCRIPTION:About the rally\n\nA relative newcomer to the WRC\, Rally Chile Bio Bío was first held in 2018 when it ran as a candidate event as part of a bid to join the WRC calendar. \nIts success meant Chile was added to the WRC calendar for 2019 – at the time becoming the 32nd country to host a WRC round since the championship’s inception in 1973. Ott Tänak\, driving a Toyota Yaris World Rally Car\, claimed victory by 23.1 seconds over Sébastien Ogier. \nThrill and difficulty are guaranteed with the route including technical\, twisty and cambered forest tracks in the Biobío region. Adding to the complexity is the weather\, with a high chance of downpours during the southern hemisphere’s springtime. \n
