South African motocross star Tristan Purdon has given fans an inside look at a new MXGP-standard track currently under development in South Africa, offering raw, first-hand insight via a candid YouTube video filmed during training.
Back home and easing his way back to full fitness, Purdon has been spending time testing the circuit while supporting local track builders and riders. Despite overcast conditions and ongoing construction, he describes the track as “GP standard,” praising the layout, soil quality, and technical sections that promise fast, demanding racing once complete.
The circuit, built with input from international track builders, is still a work in progress, with further shaping and refinements underway. Alongside the main GP track, a kids’ circuit and a Supercross layout are also being developed, highlighting the venue’s long-term vision for all levels of motocross.
Purdon’s visit has also seen strong backing from the local motocross community, with support from brands such as Pirelli South Africa and Bikers Warehouse helping keep his training program on track. As he gradually builds speed and confidence, he notes that the goal is clear: fast laps, not slow roll-arounds.
With Supercross racing on the horizon and plans to return overseas soon, Purdon’s endorsement adds credibility to the project, positioning the new track as a potential future hub for international-level motocross in South Africa.
