EFC 139: Unbeaten Prospects Face Big Tests

November 5 @ 3:00 pm – 10:30 pm

South African MMA thrives on fighters willing to take risks, chase better opposition and prove themselves against athletes who have already experienced the unforgiving reality of the Hexagon. At EFC 139, two emerging talents will put that mentality to the test, with Yaseen “Fudog” Adams and Mozambique’s Zeca Martinho taking on experienced opponents in Johannesburg.

Scheduled for Thursday, 5 November 2026, at the WSB EFC Arena, the event features two compelling matchups that reflect different stages of a fighter’s journey. Adams faces Ayanda “The Power” Zwane at featherweight, while Martinho steps up from flyweight to challenge Godknows “The General” Ndlovu at bantamweight.

For the rising prospects, the opportunity is clear: turn promise into progress. Their opponents, however, have their own reasons to make the night count.

Yaseen Adams vs Ayanda Zwane: A Test Beyond the Record

Adams arrives at EFC 139 unbeaten, carrying a 4-0-1 record and the growing expectations that come with consistent results. The PFA Cape Town prospect has combined his boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu foundations into an increasingly rounded mixed martial arts game, with victories over Guide Moyo and Rudolf Sekhukhune helping establish his momentum.

But an unbeaten record only tells part of the story. The next challenge is whether Adams can maintain that form against an opponent with considerably more experience.

His preparation at PFA Cape Town could prove significant. The gym environment includes interim EFC lightweight champion Adrian Sanchez and EFC flyweight champion Tumelo Manyamala, with bantamweight and interim featherweight champion Faeez Jacobs also having spent time training with the team.

Training alongside championship-level athletes offers Adams exposure to the standards required at the top of the sport. Against Zwane, he now has the opportunity to demonstrate whether those lessons translate when the pressure is real.

Zwane’s comeback carries its own stakes

Ayanda Zwane enters the contest with a different story. After years of competing against established EFC opposition, “The Power” is looking to begin another push towards the featherweight summit.

His most recent EFC appearance ended in a points defeat against Zimbabwe’s Mataya. Afterwards, Zwane placed his gloves on the Hexagon floor in a gesture that appeared to signal retirement. Mataya picked them up and handed them back, refusing to let the moment become the end of his opponent’s journey.

Zwane ultimately chose to continue.

His experience, reach and mobility make him a challenging assignment for an unbeaten prospect. With striking complemented by wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, he has several ways to test Adams across different phases of a fight.

For Adams, this is a chance to prove he belongs among the division’s emerging contenders. For Zwane, it is an opportunity to show that his story still has another chapter.

Zeca Martinho vs Godknows Ndlovu: Ambition Comes at a Price

The second matchup brings a different kind of gamble. Mozambique’s Zeca Martinho, just 25 and unbeaten after his opening two professional fights, has personally requested a showdown with Godknows Ndlovu.

More importantly, Martinho has agreed to move up from flyweight to bantamweight to make the contest happen.

That decision says something about his ambition. Rather than waiting for the perfect opportunity, the Fight Camp athlete has actively pursued a more experienced opponent.

Martinho has already recorded victories over Sisa Jungula and Philani Ngqoyiya, showcasing striking and grappling ability. At 5 feet 3 inches, he is compact and powerful, with an aggressive approach that should make this an intriguing contest.

However, moving up a division introduces another variable. Martinho must show that his physical tools, conditioning and technical skills can remain effective against a larger opponent.

Ndlovu brings 12 fights of experience

Originally from Zimbabwe and now based in Johannesburg, Ndlovu has competed against established EFC names, including Brandon Santos, Ntando Zondi, Belelo, Machavane and Komana.

Training at Topgun MMA, “The General” brings 12 fights of experience and a demanding style built around unpredictable striking, wrestling and powerful ground-and-pound.

His challenge is to manage an ambitious opponent who has specifically targeted him. Martinho’s willingness to move up a division makes him dangerous, but Ndlovu’s experience could be crucial if the fight develops into a prolonged tactical or physical battle.

For Martinho, victory could accelerate his rise. For Ndlovu, it is a chance to reassert himself against a new generation of challengers.

EFC 139: More Than Two Matchups

The wider card adds further intrigue, with Coenie “The Prophecy” Lamprecht facing Namibia’s Veja Hinda in the main event. Undefeated lightweights Nasiphi “The Honey Badger” Vellem and Grant “Friction” Farrow are also scheduled to meet, while Sisa Jungula takes on Micky “The Mouse” Cloete.

Presented by World Sports Betting, EFC 139 brings together established names, emerging prospects and fighters looking to change the direction of their careers.

For Adams and Martinho, the stakes extend beyond winning another fight. Both have actively pursued opportunities that could move them closer to the division’s leading contenders. Their opponents bring experience, resilience and the knowledge that progress in MMA rarely follows a straight line.

On Thursday, 5 November, the Hexagon will provide the answers.
