Rolling Retro 2026: The Best Beach and Surf Day of the Year Is Back
The countdown is officially on as Rolling Retro 2026 makes its highly anticipated return, promising another unforgettable celebration of classic surf culture, good vibes and community spirit. Known as one of the best beach and surf days on the South African calendar, this iconic event brings together surfers, music lovers and spectators for a full day of action and fun at one of the country’s most loved beaches.
At the heart of Rolling Retro is the unique team-based surf format, where crews battle it out on retro surfboards from the official Rolling Retro collection. It’s all about style, teamwork and pure stoke, with the ocean setting the stage for an epic showdown from morning through to the finals.
Entries are now open for Teams, but availability is limited. With only a few team slots still up for grabs, it’s first come, first served. Teams can secure their spot via the official entry form:

Beyond the surf, Rolling Retro 2026 delivers a full-on beach festival experience. Expect surf action, retro boards, live DJs, a retro band, Monster Energy cocktail specials, an Apostle Beer bar, and an atmosphere that keeps the energy high long after the last wave is ridden.

This year’s event carries special meaning, as Rolling Retro is dedicated to the late Ilan Sheer, a beloved figure in the Llandudno and Hout Bay surf community. Ilan played a significant role in the spirit and growth of Rolling Retro and was known for his infectious laughter, passion for surfing and unwavering reliability. The organisers invite everyone attending to join in celebrating his life and legacy. Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

A massive thank you goes out to the sponsors who continue to make the event possible: Hey Dude, Vudu Surf, Sealand and Apostle Beer, with an exciting new presenting sponsor to be announced soon.
With green light conditions, small surf and light winds forecast, all signs point to an incredible day at the beach. Rolling Retro 2026 is set to run this Saturday, 07 February 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most memorable editions yet.
Big things are planned, the vibes are locked in, and the retro boards are ready. You don’t want to miss Rolling Retro 2026.
