Rain Delays SA MX Finale But The Championship Fight Lives On
The 2026 South African National Motocross Championship will have to wait a little longer before crowning its champions.
Round 7, originally scheduled for 19 September at Border MX in East London, has officially been postponed due to heavy rain that has saturated the circuit. The final round of the season will now take place on 3 October 2026, hosted by Wetherd MX, remaining the venue for what promises to be an explosive championship finale.

For riders, teams and fans, it is an unexpected twist in a season that has already delivered drama, close battles and title races that remain wide open.
When Nature Changes The Race Plan
Motocross is one of the purest forms of motorsport because it exists entirely at the mercy of the elements.
Rain can transform a fast, technical circuit into a dangerous and unpredictable challenge within hours. Deep ruts, standing water and unstable jump faces not only affect racing quality but can also create serious safety concerns.
Event organisers made the difficult decision to postpone the event after assessing conditions at Border MX.
“Making this call is never easy, but rider safety and fair track conditions have to come first.”
It is a decision that reflects one of the core values of the sport: competition means little if the conditions do not allow athletes to perform safely and fairly.
Two More Weeks To Prepare
While fans may be disappointed to wait a little longer, riders now face a different challenge.
The postponement extends the season by two weeks, adding another layer of physical and mental preparation to a championship already running at full intensity.
For title contenders, those extra days can become an advantage or a test.
Some riders will use the time to fine-tune bike setup, recover from injuries or sharpen fitness. Others will have to manage nerves as the pressure of a season-long battle stretches into October.
The championship remains alive, and every lap at Border MX could decide who lifts the national title.
The Wait Is Almost Over
The countdown has simply been reset.
After months of racing across the country, the 2026 South African National Motocross Championship now comes down to one final day, one final track and one final battle.
