In an unfortunate turn of events, EFC 105 title contender, Shannon van Tonder has developed a serious staphylococcal infection on his leg, forcing him out of the championship bout due to take place at the EFC Performance Institute this Thursday.
As the EFC will support and anticipate Shannons return as soon as his infection is healed, one athlete’s misfortune is another one’s gain, as an icon of the sport has stepped-up as a late replacement to face Van Tonder’s opponent and number one title challenger, Musa ‘Bad News’ Sethwape. And that fighter is none other than former two-division EFC champion, perennial fan-favourite and future EFC hall of famer, Nkazimulo Zulu. Now in his 10th year in the EFC, ‘Zuluboy’ remains one of the most fearsome strikers to have ever graced the Hexagon and continues to develop his high-level wrestling at CIT in Pretoria amongst the greatest fight team on the African continent today.
As a former 125lb AND 135lb champion, his name is synonymous with action and highlight reel finishes, having despatched the greatest names in the promotion to have dared to face him this past decade. With his teammate Dricus du Plessis and training partner Cameron Saaiman soon to return to a heroes welcome following their incredible victories at UFC 290 in Las Vegas, another championship belt would be a fitting end to the week for Morné Visser’s team in Hatfield. However, the other fighter in the Hexagon from local rival team BIA is on a four-fight winning streak and has been preparing for this moment for 6 months, Sethwape has delivered ‘Bad News’ to every foe who has been prepared to face him and accepted this change of opponent without hesitation. With eleven incredible fights locked and loaded, EFC 105 is set to deliver even more of the best sporting action available in the City of Gold!
