SA’s premier FMX event returns for another thrilling evening at Montecasino

Montecasino, the popular entertainment destination in South Africa, is gearing up for an electrifying night of high-octane action as it plays host to the highly anticipated King of the Whip event. This adrenaline-fueled Action Sports spectacle is set to take place on Saturday, 25 November, showcasing the skills and talent of top Motocross and Freestyle Motocross athletes. With a hefty prize purse up for grabs, riders will battle head-to-head to prove themselves and seize the coveted title of #KingoftheWhip 2023.

Tickets for King of the Whip 2023 are now available from HOWLER, the official ticketing partner for the event. General standing tickets are priced at R150, while grandstand seats are available for R250. To secure your spot at this thrilling event, head over to howler.co.za/KOTW2023 and grab your tickets before they sell out.

The doors to Montecasino will open at 2pm, allowing fans to soak up the vibrant atmosphere and get ready for an evening of adrenaline-fueled action. The proceedings will officially kick off at 4pm and continue well into the evening, culminating in the exhilarating final showdown under the night skies, accompanied by mesmerizing pyrotechnics.

In order to be crowned the King of the Whip, riders must score enough points through the Best Whip qualifying rounds to advance to the semi-finals and eventually the finals. This thrilling competition pushes the boundaries of what is possible on a motocross bike, as riders showcase their skills and creativity in the air. The event will also feature the FMX Best Trick contest, which includes both right-side up and up-side down trick categories, further adding to the excitement and suspense of the evening.

Over the years, the King of the Whip event has seen some incredible talent grace the stage and claim the prestigious title. In 2022, Belgium’s Julien Vanstippen made a remarkable sweep by winning Best Whip, Best Trick Up-Side-Down, and placing second in Best Trick Right-Side-Up. However, local hero Dallan Goldman managed to beat Vanstippen to claim gold in the Best Trick Right-Side-Up category.

In 2019, Scotty Billett took the top spot before the world was hit by the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, it was Dallan Goldman who emerged victorious, showcasing his immense skills and cementing his name in FMX history. And in 2017, Alastair Sayer reigned supreme, impressing the crowd with his daring and precision.

As the countdown begins for the much-anticipated King of the Whip 2023, the question on everyone’s mind is: who will take the crown this year? With a new lineup of talented riders including international riders Edgar Torronteras, Marc Pinyol & Julien Vanstippen and the prospect of awe-inspiring tricks and flips, the competition is bound to be fierce. Only time will tell which athlete will rise to the occasion and etch their name into the history books as the next #KingoftheWhip.

Don’t miss out on this thrilling event! Grab your tickets, prepare for an evening of heart-stopping stunts, and witness the battle for supremacy at Montecasino on November 25th.
