In a massive shake-up for the primacy of the EFC Flyweight division, Terence ‘The Black Panther’ Balelo is stepping-up for the right to face fellow Capetonian Tumelo ‘Bones of Steel’ Manyamala for the interim 125lb belt.
With current undisputed flyweight king, Nkazimulo Zulu unavailable due to surgery and unable to defend his title until October, the two hottest prospects in the division will go to war for the right to unify the titles against the legendary ‘King Shaka’ down the line.
“All I want is a Zulu war, Bantam, Fly, Heavy, Interim… if Zulu is out for a while let me fight at my natural weight for gold so he has to fight me next!”
With tongue-in-cheek as ever, the confident yet polarising Balelo said:
Balelo relinquishes his own interim belt, a bantamweight strap, in order to compete at EFC 114 in his natural weight division in a matchup that will surely be welcomed by Manyamala. Undefeated in the EFC after 6 superb finishes, including his most recent TKO of Micky Cloete at EFC 113, the PFA standout has recently been included in a variety of title conversations and now finally gets his call-up against the equally-devastating finisher Balelo.
Furthermore, EFC 114 also features the finale of the featherweight grand prix, where Ayanda’ The Power’ Zwane will face Simbarashe ‘The Hawk’ Hokonya for a number one contender spot and title shot against the champion, Igeu Kabesa. With two stunning main card bouts including the mother city duel between two of the Capes finest flies, the 6th of June is already being a calendar-stamp for fight fans around the world!
