Tristan Purdon, competing at the ACU British MX Championship Round 5 held at Hawkstone, faced a challenging day on the track. The South African rider, representing SC Sporthomes Husqvarna, was optimistic as the day began, sporting fresh 2025 EpicSong gear and hoping for strong results.
Qualifying saw Purdon secure a respectable P3 position, a testament to his adaptation to the tricky British circuits, particularly the sand-heavy Hawkstone track, which is a stark contrast to the hardpack surfaces he’s more familiar with from South Africa.
The first Moto kicked off with a decent start, but Purdon was forced to hit the brakes as Grimshaw spun out, causing him to lose momentum. Despite this setback, Purdon pushed hard, eventually securing a 3rd place finish after battling through the pack. Unfortunately, the second Moto proved to be much more challenging. Purdon suffered multiple crashes, losing the front brake at one point and enduring a tough ride to bring it home in 12th place. His combined results landed him 6th overall for the day.
Reflecting on the race, Purdon acknowledged the difficulties but remained positive, looking forward to the next challenge in America as he continues to grow and adapt in his motocross journey.
