Tristan Purdon, South Africa‘s motocross ace, closed out his AMA Pro National season at the Ironman Raceway in Indiana with a spirited performance, navigating the challenging track with grit and tenacity.

As the final round of the AMA Outdoor Motocross Championship unfolded, Purdon and his team arrived at Ironman ready to face the big jumps and demanding conditions that the track is known for. The atmosphere was a mix of anticipation and camaraderie, with everyone, including Purdon, feeling the excitement of the last race of the season.

“The track’s looking good. Big jumps,”.

Despite a difficult start to his weekend with bike issues during the first moto, Purdon maintained his focus.

“It happens. It’s motocross racing. It’s life,”.

he said, reflecting on the mechanical challenges that are part and parcel of the sport

Thanks to the quick work of his mechanic, Neil, who managed to change the engine and get the bike back in action for the second moto, Purdon was able to return to the track, determined to make the most of his opportunity.

In Moto 2, Purdon demonstrated resilience, pushing through a tough start and working his way up the field. He finished 20th after a hard-fought race, narrowly missing out on 19th place in the final lap.

“I was happy with that. I knew I could push right to the end,”.

The event was not just about racing for Purdon; it was also about the support he received from his family and team. Having his family present for the race added a special touch to the weekend, making his experience at the AMA even more memorable.

“It was really nice. They haven’t watched me race in a long time. To be at AMA was pretty cool,”.

Looking ahead, Purdon remains optimistic about his motocross journey. With the AMA season now behind him, he’s focused on his next challenge at Schoolhouse, eager to continue building on the momentum he’s gained.

“Thank you again to the team for giving me this opportunity. Now we look forward to Schoolhouse this weekend and see how we can go there,”.
