The final round of the Official MSA National Motocross Championship for 2024 took place at the newly refurbished Terra Topia track in Diepsloot, marking an unforgettable conclusion to the season. The Red Bull KTM team left an indelible mark, with outstanding performances from their top riders in scorching heat. Cameron Durow, who had already secured the MX1 and MX2 titles after Round 6, continued his dominance, while Trey Cox clinched the High School class championship, capping off an incredible comeback season.

Trey Cox, after a challenging 2023 marked by injuries, proved his resilience, taking the National High School Championship with a consistent 3-1 performance in his heats. His victory secured the title in the first heat, and Cox expressed his gratitude and excitement:
“We put our lives into this and sacrifice a lot, so it’s an incredible feeling to see it pay off!”
He also competed in the MX2 class, finishing 6-7, highlighting his versatility and skill.

Luke Grundy, completing his rookie season in the MX2 class, delivered a stellar performance with two second-place finishes. He fiercely battled his teammate Cameron Durow in the second heat but fell just short of claiming his first national victory. Grundy’s positive outlook for the future was evident as he reflected on the season and his determination to push even harder next year.

Cameron Durow, having already wrapped up the MX1 and MX2 championships, added yet another victory to his impressive 2024 season. Although a minor mistake in MX1’s second heat cost him a perfect finish, Durow expressed his satisfaction with his season, especially in MX2, where he achieved a flawless run.

KTM’s domination extended beyond individual performances, as the team also secured the prestigious Manufacturers Award, highlighting their all-around excellence throughout the season. Team manager Kerim Fitz-Gerald praised the riders and their hard work, expressing immense pride in the team’s accomplishments and excitement for the next season.

Husqvarna Racing’s Barend du Toit also closed out the season on a strong note, despite challenging conditions. In his first full season in the MX2 class, du Toit finished 5th overall, with a standout performance in the second heat, securing 3rd place. Reflecting on his day, du Toit remained optimistic about his future, focusing on improving during the off-season.
