South African motocross rider Tristan Purdon kicked off his 2025 British Motocross Championship (MXGB) campaign with an eventful weekend at Hawkstone Park. Purdon showed solid form in Moto 1, securing a P3 finish, but an unfortunate bike issue in Moto 2 resulted in a DNF, placing him 11th overall for the round.
Despite the setback, Purdon remains optimistic about his progress.
“Felt a real step forward with my riding and pace. Still some things to fine-tune, but we’re heading in the right direction,”.

The off-season in the U.S. helped sharpen his skills, even after overcoming a broken ankle in December. His strong performance in qualifying (P4) and competitive race pace signal a promising season ahead.
“It was a freak accident—bike cut out on the takeoff of a tabletop. I just let go, landed hard, and knocked the wind out of myself. Thankfully, no serious injuries, and we’ll bounce back stronger.”
Reflecting on the weekend, Purdon acknowledged the challenges but remains motivated:
With a weekend off before back-to-back race weekends, Purdon is focused on recovery and refining his approach.
“We’ve made good progress with the bike, and I’m happy with the direction we’re heading.”
A massive thank you to Neil Prince and the entire team, as well as his sponsors, for their continued support. Stay tuned for more as Purdon gears up for the next round of MXGB action!
