Global new energy vehicle giant BYD (Build Your Dreams) is rapidly strengthening its footprint in South Africa with a series of landmark investments designed to accelerate the country’s shift to electric mobility. During an exclusive media briefing in Johannesburg, Executive Vice President, Ms. Stella Li, highlighted South Africa as a pivotal market and springboard for regional growth in BYD’s global expansion strategy.
The company unveiled bold plans to install between 200 and 300 public charging stations across South Africa by 2026, making EV ownership more practical and convenient for drivers nationwide. Further setting the pace for innovation, BYD will also introduce ultra-fast 1MW charging technology, enabling next-generation rapid charging once compatible models enter the market.
