WORLD SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCES SOUTH AFRICAN CAMERON DUROW AS SX1 WILDCARD FOR SA GP

The FIM World Supercross Championship has officially revealed that South Africa’s own Cameron Durow will compete as an SX1 wildcard entry at the highly anticipated South African GP. This announcement marks a proud milestone for both the championship and the country’s motocross community, as World Supercross makes its debut on South African soil with a homegrown contender in the premier class.

A Proven Champion on Home Soil

Durow, a 9-time South African National Motocross Champion from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, has long established himself as one of the nation’s top athletes in the sport. Having secured national titles across every major category—from 50cc to MX1—his 2025 MX1 National Championship win further solidified his dominance in local motocross.

Competing Against the World’s Best

Since 2023, Durow has raced full-time in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the United States, battling against some of the world’s leading riders. His consistent progression, including multiple top-30 overall finishes, demonstrates his ability to compete at the highest international standard.

Representing South Africa on the Global Stage

Durow has also represented South Africa at the prestigious Motocross of Nations on four occasions, with appearances in the USA, France, the UK, and again in 2025. His participation has contributed to strong team performances and heightened visibility for South African motocross on the world stage.

A Home GP Moment Fans Won’t Forget

His wildcard entry into the South African GP promises to be one of the standout moments of the event. Local fans will have the rare opportunity to witness a South African athlete line up in the World Supercross Championship’s elite SX1 class—on home ground, and against global competition.

“Racing in the World Supercross Championship on home soil is something truly special. South African fans have supported me throughout my journey, and to line up in front of them at the South African GP is an incredible honour. I can’t wait to give it everything I’ve got.”

Durow expressed his excitement, saying:

“South African motorsport has been waiting for this moment. Having Cameron Durow compete in the SX1 class at our home GP is not only a testament to his talent and dedication, but a huge moment for the sport in this country. Fans are going to witness something special, and we couldn’t be prouder to have a South African rider representing on the biggest stage.”

Tony Feldman, Director at Showtime Management, echoed this pride:
