Anstie Extends SX2 Lead in Sweden as Title Fight Goes to Cape Town Finale
Max Anstie strengthened his position at the top of the SX2 World Championship standings with another strong performance at the Swedish Grand Prix. However, a determined Main Race victory by Enzo Lopes ensured the world title will only be settled next week at the highly anticipated Cape Town finale.
Anstie, who dominated the opening three rounds in Buenos Aires, Vancouver, and Australia, arrived in Sweden with momentum on his side. But the Team GSM by Star Racing Yamaha rider faced fresh challenges on a demanding Stockholm track.
Despite missing out on Superpole to Brazil’s Enzo Lopes, Anstie powered through to win both sprint races. Lopes responded fiercely in the Main Race—worth the most points—claiming a crucial victory that keeps the title battle alive.
Anstie Battles Through Tough Conditions
“That last one was tough with the ruts. I had a moment where my feet came off, twisted my legs, and I just focused on bringing it home. The track was tricky, and I’m looking forward to Cape Town next week.”
Reflecting on the night, Anstie admitted the final race tested his limits:
Race 1 saw Anstie fight from behind as Michael Hicks—representing all-electric manufacturer Stark—led the opening laps. A late push from Anstie secured a dramatic win. Race 2 was more controlled, with Anstie grabbing the lead early and never looking back.

Lopes finished second in Race 2 and saved his best for the Main Race.
“The win feels amazing. Max and Shane were on me the whole race. Thank you to everyone in Brazil watching.”

Anderson Reignites SX1 Title Charge with Crucial Swedish Win
In the SX1 class, Jason Anderson delivered one of his best rides of the season to claim a vital victory and tighten the championship standings to just a single point between the top three riders.
After struggling during the day, Anderson regrouped and executed when it mattered—winning both the second sprint race and the Main Race for Pipes Motorsport Group.
“All day I was floundering. Going into the last race, I knew I had to hit my marks and send it. Joey was on me the whole way.”

Savatgy Strong, but Frustrated
Joey Savatgy took second overall after winning Superpole and the first sprint race but was left disappointed after mistakes in Race 2 cost him momentum.
“It looks brand new, but it was tricky. It was a positive day, but I need to be a little better.”

Craig Pushes Through Pain
Christian Craig battled through a fall and a sore leg to salvage a fourth-place finish in Race 2.
“I struggled in the ruts. These guys were on it, and I wish I was a little closer.”

With only one round left, Anderson, Savatgy, and Craig remain separated by a single point—setting up a dramatic SX1 showdown in Cape Town.
