16-Year-Old Chloe Stuart Accelerates SA Motorsport

2 Mins read

South African motorsport’s future has a new face — and she’s already in the fast lane.

When the visor drops and the red lights go out, everything else fades away. For 16-year-old Chloe Stuart, that split second between silence and speed is where she feels most alive. At an age when many teenagers are still exploring their interests, Chloe is already rewriting history in South African racing.

The Gauteng-born driver is the youngest female ever to win a Formula Vee title and the first woman in more than 50 years to claim the prestigious championship. Her journey began long before she could properly reach the pedals. At just eighteen months old, Chloe traded dolls for a battery-powered car. By seven, she was racing competitively in karts under the guidance of her father, Barry, a former endurance kart racer.

Rising Through the Ranks

Chloe’s early career saw her competing in the SSS Prokart Midgets before advancing through the F200 and F300 classes. In 2022, she secured third place in the F300 Championship — a result that confirmed her growing potential.

Her move into Formula M marked a significant turning point. There, she won the Class C Championship, topped the Index of Performance standings, and was crowned Formula M Driver of the Year. A year later, she demonstrated her composure under pressure by winning the Libre Invitational in Cape Town — a rain-soaked race that demanded precision and control in treacherous conditions.

Making History in Formula Vee

Stepping into the Formula Vee championship was a major shift. The move from karts to a high-speed single-seater meant adapting to faster machinery, tighter wheel-to-wheel racing, and razor-thin margins for error. As the youngest driver on the grid — and the only woman — Chloe faced a steep learning curve.

She didn’t just adapt; she excelled.

Chloe finished her debut season as Rookie Champion before going on to secure the Formula Vee title, making history in the process. Her success extended internationally when she represented South Africa at the Tillotson T4 Nations Cup in Spain, gaining valuable global experience.

Success in BMW M-Performance Racing

In 2025, Chloe joined Pablo Clark Racing as a development driver in a BMW E46 330i. The partnership quickly delivered results. She became the first woman to win a BMW M-Performance race in Class F, earning promotion to Class E and now competes in the BMW M-Performance NA Cup, Class D.

Her rapid progression has not gone unnoticed in the paddock. With backing from Pablo Clark Racing, Easy Equities, Autozone, LMS Electrical Contractors, Basically Branding, and other sponsors, Chloe’s profile continues to grow within the motorsport community.

Beyond the Track

Chloe’s dedication extends well beyond race weekends. She trains intensely, incorporating CrossFit into her fitness regime and holding a brown belt in Karate — both crucial for the physical demands of racing. She studies telemetry data, analyses onboard footage, and works closely with engineers to refine every detail, from tyre wear to aerodynamics.

She also maintains a strong digital presence, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at race preparations, gym sessions, and technical debriefs through her social media platforms.

Building a Brand and a Legacy

This year promises to be another milestone chapter. Chloe is preparing to launch Racer Girl, her first fragrance, while also developing Classic Cars by Chloe — a restoration project aimed at reviving vintage vehicles with the help of a skilled team.

Her focus remains clear: mastering Class D in the BMW M-Performance NA Cup and building the experience required for international competition. Though still at the beginning of her professional journey, Chloe Stuart is already steering South African motorsport into a bold new era — one defined by speed, skill, and fearless ambition.
