A Unique Twist on Street Soccer

The Red Bull 1 Pal competition adds a unique spin to traditional street football. Instead of conventional goals, teams compete to stack four bricks — a tribute to the iconic makeshift goalposts that have defined South African street soccer for generations.

This creative format highlights the roots of the game and pays homage to the communities where many football dreams are born.

Winning for the Love of the Game

Following their victory, Bad Apes player Wandile “Dube” Nhlapo reflected on the team’s journey and the significance of the win.

“The plan was to win the game and do our best. The entertainment and the fans were a nice touch. Winning the R20 000 cash prize will help elevate the players and the club and allow us to continue playing soccer for the love of the game,”.
