The iconic slopes of Pietramurata came alive as the MXGP of Trentino delivered another unforgettable chapter in the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship. With roaring crowds lining the cliffs of Il Ciclamino, round five combined drama, weather twists, and elite racing at its very best.

Herlings Powers Through the Pack
Jeffrey Herlings once again proved why he remains one of the sport’s all-time greats, storming to his 114th career Grand Prix victory. Despite poor starts in both races, the Honda HRC Petronas star carved his way through the field with relentless pace and precision.

In race one, Herlings executed a stunning comeback from outside the top ten, slicing past rivals including Tim Gajser and Tom Vialle before hunting down Romain Febvre for the lead.

Race two, however, belonged to Gajser. Riding through pain, the Slovenian delivered a heroic performance to claim victory, holding off late pressure from Herlings and sending the passionate hillside fans into celebration.

Vialle’s resilience earned him a valuable overall podium, while Lucas Coenen endured a difficult weekend yet maintained his championship lead despite crashes and missed opportunities.

Sacha Coenen Perfect in MX2
In MX2, Sacha Coenen delivered a flawless weekend, sweeping all three races to secure a dominant overall victory. His control in mixed conditions, including heavy rain in race one, highlighted his growing maturity and championship intent.

Guillem Farres impressed with consistent performances to take second overall, while Mathis Valin claimed a well-earned podium after battling through the pack.

Championship leader Simon Längenfelder faced a rare off weekend, struggling in race one before recovering in race two to salvage crucial points and retain the red plate.

Drama, Comebacks, and Championship Pressure
The Trentino round had everything—rain, crashes, comebacks, and tactical brilliance. From Herlings’ charge through the field to Coenen’s perfect execution, the event showcased the depth of talent across both classes.

With the championship standings tightening, Herlings now sits just four points behind Coenen in MXGP, while Längenfelder’s lead in MX2 has been slashed to just three points over Sacha Coenen.
Eyes on the Next Chapter
As the championship heads into a short break before resuming in France, the intensity is only set to rise. The MXGP of Trentino once again proved why it remains one of the crown jewels of the calendar—where legends are made, and title battles take shape.
