X GAMES ANNOUNCES THE FIRST TWO SUMMER EVENT DATES AND LOCATIONS FOR THE INAUGURAL 2026 LEAGUE SEASON

X Games has officially unveiled the first two Summer League stops for the inaugural X Games League (XGL) 2026 season, marking a historic evolution in action sports competition. For the first time ever, clubs and individual athletes will compete in a league format, earning points toward a season championship and redefining how elite action sports are contested.

The 2026 XGL Summer Season will kick off in Sacramento, California, from June 26–28, before heading to Japan from July 4–5, 2026. These two regular-season events will set the stage for a soon-to-be-announced championship event, which will serve as the final stop of the league’s inaugural summer season.

“The launch of the X Games League marks an exciting new chapter for the athletes and the fans. Sacramento and Japan are two places that elevate action sports with their energy, passion, and support. Starting the league in locations that consistently show up for the athletes creates the perfect foundation for what XGL is built to deliver — world-class competition, progression, and unforgettable experiences.”

XGL Stop 1: Sacramento, California

June 26–28, 2026

The debut X Games League event will take place in Sacramento, in partnership with Visit Sacramento. The three-day spectacle will feature more than 100 world-class skateboard, BMX, and Moto X athletes, alongside live music performances and an expansive fan experience known as X Fest.

“Sacramento is proud to bring such a world-class event to both residents and tourists. Hosting the first league event for X Games is not only an honor, but a testament to Sacramento’s investment in providing our community unforgettable experiences.”

said Mike Testa, President & CEO of Visit Sacramento

XGL Stop 2: Japan

July 4–5, 2026

Following Sacramento, X Games will return to Japan, a country celebrated for its deep-rooted action sports culture and passionate fan base. As the second stop of the three-event Summer League season, the Japan event will be crucial for XClubs and athletes looking to build momentum and points ahead of the championship finale.

“We are looking forward to having X Games return to Japan for such a monumental season of the new X Games League. Bringing X Games to Japan, where athletes have become such a driving force behind action sports progression, will only continue to inspire new generations.”

A New Era for Action Sports

The 2026 X Games Summer League will consist of three total stops: two regular-season events and one championship event. At each stop, four XClubs will field drafted rosters of ten elite male and female skateboarders and BMX riders, competing across multiple disciplines. Beyond competition, fans can expect immersive cultural experiences, live music, sponsor activations, and festival-style programming.

Ahead of the season, the four XClubs—set to be announced soon—will draft from a pool of over 150 elite skateboard and BMX athletes during the XGL Summer Draft. The Draft is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at Cosm in Los Angeles, streaming live on ESPN+, the ESPN App, and YouTube from 4:30–6:30 p.m. CAT.
