Ken Roczen Tightens Title Fight with Dramatic Triple Crown Victory in Cleveland, Nate Thrasher Prevails with Eastern Divisional 250SMX Class Win
For the first time in three decades, the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship returned to the shores of Lake Erie, where a resilient crowd packed Huntington Bank Field for Round 14 of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship. Battling rain, cold temperatures, and swirling winds, riders faced some of the toughest conditions of the season—and the championship fight took another dramatic twist.

450SMX Class: Roczen Capitalizes in Chaos
The Triple Crown format brought three intense 12-minute-plus-one-lap races, where consistency proved critical. Progressive Insurance Cycle Gear Suzuki’s Ken Roczen mastered the unpredictable conditions to secure his fourth win of the season and tighten the championship battle to just a single point.
Race 1 saw Honda HRC Progressive’s Hunter Lawrence take the holeshot and dominate from start to finish, building a commanding lead and taking a convincing win ahead of Roczen and Justin Cooper.

Conditions worsened in Race 2, with rain and wind adding to the challenge. Cooper grabbed the holeshot and maintained control to secure victory, while Roczen fought through a heated battle to finish second. Lawrence recovered from a poor start to claim fifth.
The decisive Race 3 belonged to Roczen. He stormed to the holeshot and quickly built a gap, navigating the treacherous track with precision. Behind him, chaos unfolded—Lawrence suffered multiple crashes, while Cooper also went down. Roczen remained unchallenged, sealing the race win by 8.7 seconds and clinching the overall victory with a 2-2-1 scorecard.

Cooper Webb delivered a consistent performance (5-4-2) to claim second overall via tiebreaker over Justin Cooper (3-1-7), who rounded out the podium.
Lawrence’s misfortune in the final race saw him finish sixth overall (1-5-14), slashing his championship lead to just one point over Roczen with three rounds remaining.

Adding to the shake-up, Eli Tomac was sidelined after a qualifying crash resulted in a hip injury, dropping him further back in the standings. Webb now sits third, 22 points behind the lead, while Tomac falls to fourth, 31 points adrift.
Roczen’s triumph marked his 27th career victory, moving him into a tie for 10th on the all-time wins list and setting the stage for a thrilling championship finale.

250SMX East: Thrasher Triumphs in Tough Conditions
The Eastern Divisional 250SMX Class also adopted the Triple Crown format, featuring three 10-minute-plus-one-lap races that tested riders’ resilience.
Race 1 saw Seth Hammaker take the win after capitalizing on a late crash from Cole Davies, with Nate Thrasher finishing second and Daxton Bennick third.

Race 2 was impacted by rain and required a restart after an early crash. Thrasher took control and cruised to victory, with Landen Gordon second and Hammaker edging Davies for third.
In Race 3, Davies rebounded with a strong performance, grabbing the holeshot and controlling the race for the win. However, Thrasher’s consistency (2-1-4) earned him the overall victory with seven points.

Gordon impressed with a career-best performance (4-2-2) to take second overall, while Davies (5-4-1) secured third, completing a podium sweep for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. Hammaker narrowly missed the podium after a tough final race.
