Former UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis bounced back in impressive fashion, defeating former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Oklahoma City.
Du Plessis controlled the five-round contest with relentless pressure, powerful striking, and accurate head kicks that repeatedly troubled Usman. While the Nigerian-American veteran showed his trademark toughness and mounted a late rally, it wasn’t enough to overcome the South African‘s dominance.
The judges scored the bout 50-45, 49-46, and 49-46, handing Du Plessis a convincing unanimous decision victory. The win marks an important return to the win column for “Stillknocks” and reinforces his position among the UFC’s top middleweight contenders.
Usman displayed resilience throughout the contest but was unable to consistently close the distance or neutralize Du Plessis’ striking attack. The performance highlighted Du Plessis’ championship-calibre skill set as he delivered one of the standout performances of the UFC Oklahoma City card.
