Red Bull Half Court – the world’s fastest and most electrifying 3-on-3 streetball tournament – is landing in South Africa for the very first time this July. Known for fusing high-octane basketball with raw urban energy and a scoring twist that flips traditional gameplay on its head, the tournament is set to ignite courts across the country with streetball’s signature flair.
Globally, Red Bull Half Court spans over 20 countries and draws more than 8,000 participants annually. In 2025, it culminates in an epic World Final showdown in Dubai. But before that, South Africa’s finest ballers will have a shot at glory.
The South African Game Plan
For the inaugural South African edition, the action kicks off with regional qualifiers in three major cities:
- Cape Town – 12 July 2025
- Durban – 26 July 2025
- Pretoria – 23 August 2025
These qualifiers set the stage for the South African National Final on 13 September 2025, hosted at Wits University in Johannesburg. One men’s and one women’s team will rise as national champions and earn the honour of repping South Africa on the global stage in Dubai.

Red Bull Half Court isn’t your standard tournament. Yes, teams can advance by winning three games – but there’s a twist. The “Own the Court” rule means the team with the most cumulative points in each group can also progress, even if they haven’t notched the most wins. It’s fast. It’s fierce. It’s streetball – with edge.
From gritty inner-city courts to iconic backdrops, Red Bull Half Court is a celebration of expression, hustle, and creativity. It’s where bold moves meet big moments, and players are encouraged to bring their flavour to the game.
