Tahnée Seagrave celebrated her 29th birthday in the best way possible by securing her first UCI World Cup Downhill win in three years on Val di Sole’s challenging Black Snake track. 2018 champion Amaury Pierron also made a triumphant return, winning on this course for the first time since recovering from a serious injury.

Women’s Race Highlights

The notorious Black Snake track lived up to its reputation with its 2.1 km length and 555 m drop, described as “physical and gnarly.” Due to an injury, Jess Blewitt, the fastest woman in the semi-finals, was unable to compete in the finals. Valentina Roa Sánchez, riding her first elite final, set a solid initial time of 4:46.7. Monika Hrastnik took the early lead, showing impressive speed and control. Tahnée Seagrave then delivered a standout performance, attacking the upper section with vigor and maintaining her lead despite fatigue, ultimately finishing in 4:31.471. Marine Cabirou and Myriam Nicole put in strong efforts but couldn’t surpass Seagrave’s time.

Seagrave’s victory moves her into second place in the overall standings, 229 points behind Valentina Höll, with Marine Cabirou close behind in third.

Men’s Race Highlights

In the men’s race, Amaury Pierron set the pace in the semi-final, and despite the challenging conditions, he delivered an outstanding performance in the finals. The course, already slippery from rain, saw many riders struggle. Dakotah Norton set an impressive early time of 3:43.897. Loïc Bruni, a favorite, couldn’t match Norton’s time, finishing eight seconds behind. Finn Iles came close but a few slips cost him, and he finished second. Pierron, the last rider, executed a flawless run, winning by a margin of nearly five seconds with a time of 3:39.004.

This victory marks Pierron’s remarkable comeback after a year-long recovery from a serious injury, showcasing his resilience and skill.
