In the third year of X Games Chiba, fans were treated to a spectacular first day at the new Makuhari Messe indoor arena as four eliminations set the stage for Saturday’s five final competitions and musical performance. Women’s Skateboard Street Elimination
The youngest women’s skateboard street gold medalist, Chloe Covell earned the top qualifying position in the Women’s Skateboard Street Elimination with ease. One of only two riders not hailing from home country of Japan, Covell was sitting comfortably in the top spot after the first round of runs. However, unsatisfied, she used her second run to increase her score by nearly eight points. X Games Ventura 2024 gold medalist Miyu Ito from Yamagata qualified in the second spot, five-time X Games medalist Liz Akama from Aomori took third and Olympic gold medalist Coco Yoshizawa of Sagamihara in fourth.

Men’s Skateboard Park Elimination
Starting off his weekend strong, American Tom Schaar qualified in the top spot en route to his quest to become the first athlete in 18 years to win three gold in one event. The Olympic silver medalist secured the top position with his first run to overtake Australian Kieran Woolley. Hakuba’s Yuro Nagahara finished in the third position and Australian back-to-back Olympic gold medalist in fourth.

BMX Park Elimination
Kyoto’s Rim Nakamura came out flying to earn the top spot in the elimination with the highest amplitude of the session. The 2019 X Games silver medalist sat a comfortable seven points ahead of eight-time medalist Logan Martin after his first run. X Games Ventura 2024 gold medalist Marcus Christopher qualified in the third spot. Kevin Peraza, who is competing in three disciplines this weekend, narrowly made the final taking the final transfer spot.

Women’s Skateboard Park Elimination
Back-to-back double X Games gold medalist Arisa Trew once again showed her dominance with a first run that held her in the top position throughout the elimination. Her run was highlighted by a McTwist off the volcano feature. She narrowly beat out Miyazaki’s Sky Brown in her first X Games since her 2022 gold. Wakayama’s Sakura Yosozumi was close behind in third.
