In the heart of the Alps, where winter made an early appearance, the riders of Swatch Nines MTB 2024 faced a gauntlet of challenges—rain, mud, sun, and even snow. The 26-minute documentary Riders on the Storm offers an unfiltered look at this year’s event, held at Bike Republic Sölden. It showcases not just the extreme conditions, but also the resilience, camaraderie, and dedication of mountain biking’s finest.

The film takes viewers through the highs and lows as athletes take on the Nines course with a blend of grit and grace. Whether battling the elements or celebrating breakthroughs, their collective passion for mountain biking shines through.

“It’s an insane, incredible feeling to be here riding this course with all the guys and girls. It’s the best time that you can have on a bike.”

Tobey Miley, one of the event’s standout riders, captured the essence of Swatch Nines, saying,

The Swatch Nines event is known for its unique format, where the focus is on collaboration and creativity rather than competition.

“There’s a special energy here. There’s no pressure to do the craziest riding, but everyone wants to because there’s just this energy of wanting to push it, wanting to do cool stuff and push each other’s limits. That creates a very unique vibe every time, and we love it.”

Nicholi Rogatkin, a seasoned rider, remarked,

This non-competitive, jam-style event fosters a sense of community, allowing riders to explore new heights without the pressures of formal competition.

“Competitions are amazing, but they’re not for everyone. Swatch Nines is so cool for people who perform in a less competitive environment. Everyone is so supportive of each other, everyone pushes each other to learn new things, and everyone comes away super stoked.”

Veronique Sandler, another rider who thrives in these conditions, emphasized its importance, saying,

Riders on the Storm captures the heart of Swatch Nines, offering a window into the determination, creativity, and sheer joy of mountain biking. Despite the unpredictable weather, the riders made every moment count, embracing the storm and emerging triumphant.
