The final day of competition at X Games Chiba saw history made in front of a packed crowd as Garrett Reynolds became the athlete with the most gold medals in X Games history, Gui Khury and Moto Shibata landed contest first tricks, Arisa Trew extended her gold medal streak and Japanese skaters completed the second Men’s Skateboard Street podium sweep.

BMX Street Final

After attempting to break the long-standing record for most X Games gold medals in history at the past four X Games events, Garrett Reynolds finally got it done bringing his total medal count to 23. Sitting off the podium going into the final runs, Garrett landed a run that included a Double peg up rail hard 180 double barspin, 360 over rail, double barspin opposite toothpick hanger grind, fakie double peg grind up rail full Cab 360 out to fakie, double tire up rail to opposite whip off, gap barspin to peg grind, 360 feeble grind to shoot ahead of Devon Smillie. Courage Adams took home his second medal with bronze.

Men’s Skateboard Park Final

After winning bronze in Vert yesterday, Tom Schaar showed why he has been dubbed the world’s best transition skater with his first Park gold medal. The top qualifier, Tom made it look easy with a second run that included Heelflip Indy, backside lipslide, front stalefish 360 over box, backside Ollie, tailgrab 540, frontside feeble grind, kickflip Indy over the box, 5-0 over hip, frontside nosegrind extension, alley-oop kickflip Indy over hip, frontside tailslide, kickflip Indy fakie, Cab Losi grind. The second place qualifier, Kieran Woolley used his final run to nab silver pushing Gavin Bottger into the bronze medal position.

Skateboard Vert Best Trick Final

In one of the most electrifying Vert Best Trick competitions, Gui Khury and Moto Shibata landed back-to-back contest first to take gold and silver, respectively. First up, Moto landed a front foot impossible Lien 540. Then Gui followed with a kickflip body varial 900 to take his second gold of the weekend. Chigasaki’s Soya Inomata took bronze for his second medal of the weekend.

Women’s Skateboard Park Final

The unstoppable Arisa Trew became the first athlete to win five gold medals before turning 15 with her third consecutive Women’s Skateboard Park win. It all came down to the final run of the competition with Arisa landing a Backside air, body varial 540, Smith, backside air over box, front nosegrind to fakie, switch backside air over box, fakie Weddle 360, kickflip Indy, lipslide on the extension, McTwist on volcano, Weddle air, Indy 360 to fakie, switch backside air that won her the gold. Returning to X Games for the first time in two years, Sky Brown sat in the lead for much of the competition. The youngest athlete in women’s park, X Games rookie Heili Sirvio earned her first medal with bronze.

Best friends and training partners, Daniel Sandoval and Jeremy Malott earned their first gold and silver Park Best Trick medals respectively. In their fifth runs, Daniel landed a huge flair double whip to late barspin on the quarterpipe and Jeremy landed a 180 double tailwhip to late barspin over the box backwards.

Men’s Skateboard Street Final

Sagamihara’s Sora Shirai earned his first X Games gold medal with a dramatic final run that included a full Cab to backside tailslide to fakie on the 12-stair handrail, lofty 360 flip over the pyramid, backside 180 hardway to fakie 50-50, sugarcane on the small handrail over the rock gap, frontside 270 hardway front board and an incredible nollie bigspin backside tailslide bigspin out on the 12-stair handrail. Although Kairai Netsuke made a late run to launch into first, it was Sora’s ender that could not be beaten. X Games Japan 2023 gold medalist Ginwoo Onodera completed the Japanese podium sweep with bronze, his second medal in two starts.

Moto X Best Trick Final

Although his risky Lazyboy frontflip earned him silver at X Games Ventura 2024, Rob Adelberg used the trick to earn his fourth Best Trick gold. The Australian with the most X Games medals, Rob added number 18. Fellow Aussie Jackson Strong earned silver and fan favorite Taka Higashino from Osaka earned bronze.
