The Roof of Africa, often called the “Mother of Hard Enduro,” is a relentless test of endurance and skill, demanding absolute commitment from both rider and machine. For the Brother Leader TREAD KTM Enduro Team, the 2023 Roof presented immense challenges, but these only fueled their determination to excel in the 2024 South African Enduro Championship.

The season kicked off in the breathtaking Drakensberg with a triple-header weekend that pushed every competitor to their limits. Matthew Stevens, a standout in the high school class, demonstrated exceptional grit, securing a podium finish on the first day. Despite setbacks, Stevens rallied to claim victory in the next two rounds, solidifying his status as a championship contender. Reflecting on the demanding new format of six races across two weekends, Stevens emphasized the importance of versatility, intense preparation, and focus.

Dylan Jones, representing the E1 class, showcased consistency and resilience throughout the Pilgrim’s Rest rounds, despite battling navigational errors and grueling terrain. His determination earned him third-place finishes in all three rounds, underscoring his reputation as a dependable competitor.

However, the season’s defining moment came when Stevens overcame a puncture in the final round, managing a second-place finish and clinching the national championship title. His victory is a testament to his skill, perseverance, and the unwavering support of the Brother Leader TREAD KTM Enduro Team.

As the team shifts its focus to the Roof of Africa, their 2024 season stands as a testament to their resilience and drive. With rising stars like Stevens and consistent performers like Jones, the future of the Brother Leader TREAD KTM Enduro Team shines brightly.
