In an electrifying race inside Snapdragon Stadium, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac secured his 53rd career Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory. The win not only marked a triumphant return for Tomac but also catapulted him into the championship points lead, a position he hasn’t held since suffering a potentially career-ending injury in 2023.

Tomac battled fiercely throughout the 20-minute Main Event, fending off Team Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence, who was right on his rear fender until the finish line. Lawrence, looking to rebound from a tough 12th-place finish at the Anaheim Opener, settled for a strong second-place result, showing significant improvement.

Race Highlights

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot and led the early laps but was overtaken by Tomac and Lawrence in quick succession mid-race. Despite feeling under the weather, Webb held off Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki’s Ken Roczen to secure the final podium spot. Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton showcased resilience, recovering from a first-lap crash to finish sixth.

Quotes from the Riders

“It has been a long time since I’ve won one of these 20-minute Main Events. So it feels so good to rebound from last weekend. I made a lot of passes and was able to keep it on two wheels. This feels so good.”

“That [race with Eli] was awesome. I’m just happy to be ten positions better than last weekend, for sure. We tested hard this week, and the bike was much better.”

“I got a great start, much better than last week. Those two guys [Tomac and Lawrence] were gone just like that. I gave it my all, had a great battle with Kenny, and was able to hold him off for a solid podium.”

250SX Class: Julien Beaumer’s Breakthrough

In the Western Regional 250SX Class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Julien Beaumer claimed his first career Supercross win and took over the division’s points lead. The 18-year-old displayed composure as he battled early leader Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cole Davies before taking control of the race six and a half minutes in. Triumph Racing’s Jordon Smith secured second place after a consistent ride, while Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan clawed his way to third following a mid-pack start.

Rider Reactions

“It was an amazing main event. I got off to a good start, was patient, and made my move on Davies. From there, I just rode my own race.”

“It was a good day. The track was gnarly tonight with a lot of rocks, so you had to be careful. We still have a lot to dial in, but the bike has been good.”

“Congrats to Juju; that was a good race. My race was embarrassing. I got a little pumped up in the beginning, and it just got worse. All I can do is work harder this week.”
