The third round of the National Cross Country Championship took place in dusty Vryburg, with South Africa’s top teams battling through semi-desert conditions for podiums, class wins, and championship points.
Brother Leader Tread KTM: Podiums and Class Wins
The Brother Leader Tread KTM team delivered a strong performance, setting the tone with excellent Time Trial results.

- Scott Heygate lined up second in the Open Class, eventually finishing second overall and second in class after a hard-fought battle.
- Matthew Wilson dominated the OR3 Class, claiming first place and finishing fifth overall.
- Kerim Fitz-Gerald kept his winning streak alive, taking victory in the Senior Class and securing an overall podium in third.

KTM capped off the weekend by winning the Manufacturers Trophy, a testament to the brand’s strength across multiple classes. Team Manager Megan Prinsloo praised the riders’ resilience, saying their grit and teamwork in challenging conditions highlight the effort behind the scenes.
Husqvarna Racing: Overall Victory
The Husqvarna Racing Team shone in Vryburg, led by Davin Cocker, who powered to the overall win as well as victory in the Open Class.

- Cocker said he felt strong despite the dusty conditions, crediting the team for their support.
- Luke Walker added to the team’s success with second place in the OR3 Class and sixth overall.

Prinsloo also commended Husqvarna’s efforts, celebrating the consistency and competitiveness shown by both riders.
Yamaha Racing: Painting Vryburg Blue
Everest Wealth Ridgeway Racing Yamaha dominated with four class wins and podiums across junior, senior, and masters categories, showing Yamaha’s depth of talent.

- Murray Smith extended his High School 125cc lead with another win.
- Ryan Wichman made it three straight victories in the 65cc Junior class.
- Ruald Potgieter bounced back with a win in the 85cc Senior class, taking the championship lead.
- Veteran Warrick van Schalkwyk stormed to Masters honours on his Yamaha YZ 450 FX.
“Four class wins in one weekend—what more could we ask for? The team pulled out all the stops in the desert, and I’m extremely proud of Yamaha’s comeback season.”
