Converse is once again stepping up for South Africa’s biggest skateboarding showcase, as the brand proudly returns as a key partner for the Street Lines Skate Tournament 2025. The much-anticipated event takes place on 27 September 2025 at the iconic Thrashers Skatepark in Pretoria, where the country’s best skateboarders will battle it out for the top titles.
This marks Converse’s second year partnering with Street Lines, following a standout debut in 2024 that injected fresh energy into the tournament. For 2025, the brand is set to elevate the experience even further with a Converse-inspired obstacle course, giving riders new challenges while spectators enjoy the action. Fans will also get a chance to trial the Cons skate range, as well as make online purchases live at the event, adding another layer of interaction with the brand.
For Converse, the partnership goes beyond sponsorship—it’s about strengthening skateboarding culture in South Africa. With a rich heritage rooted in global skate culture, Converse has consistently played a pivotal role in supporting athletes and events. Locally, the brand was a longtime supporter of the Ult.X competition, a testament to its commitment to nurturing competitive skateboarding and creating platforms for skaters to shine.
Tebogo Mothlamme, Marketing Manager at Converse South Africa, emphasized the importance of the brand’s involvement:
“Skateboarding has always been at the heart of Converse, it represents creativity, individuality, and self-expression – values we uphold as a brand. From our years of supporting Ult.X to now being an integral part of Street Lines, our goal has always been to grow the culture and provide platforms where skaters can showcase their talent. We’re proud to continue supporting the sport and can’t wait to see how South Africa’s best skaters push the limits this year.”
Presented by LW Mag and Dragon Energy Drink, in association with Converse Cons, Garmin, Monster Products, and Insta360, the Street Lines Skate Tournament has quickly risen to the top as South Africa’s premier skateboarding competition. It brings together both professional and amateur skaters from across the country, making it the ultimate platform for the sport’s growth and visibility.
