Lethal Shooter Battles Physics in Car Spin

3 Mins read

Basketball is usually played on a court. Lethal Shooter decided the court needed wheels — and a serious amount of rotation.

World-renowned basketball shooting coach Chris Matthews, better known as Lethal Shooter, has taken his South African adventure into full action-sports territory with a wild “Man vs Car Spinning” challenge.

Behind the wheel was spinning specialist Sam Sam, with the car reportedly reaching speeds of up to 40MPH as Matthews attempted to sink a basketball while everything around him was moving.

And somehow, he made it.

Shooting Against Physics

The challenge sounds simple until you think about what is actually happening.

A basketball normally requires a shooter to establish their feet, read the hoop, control their release and judge distance. Take away that stability and replace it with a rapidly spinning vehicle, and suddenly every part of the shot becomes more complicated.

The hoop isn’t the only thing that matters.

The movement of the car, the shooter’s position, the changing angle and the timing of the release all become part of the equation.

Lethal Shooter wasn’t simply trying to make a basketball shot — he was trying to make one while fighting the movement of the car.

That’s where the stunt becomes particularly impressive.

Sam Sam Brings the Spin

The other half of the challenge belonged to driver Sam Sam, whose job was to create the moving platform that made the shot so difficult.

Car spinning has become a major part of South Africa‘s automotive and street-performance culture, with highly skilled drivers turning controlled vehicle movement into a form of entertainment and expression.

Putting that world together with elite basketball shooting creates an unusual crossover.

One side demands precision behind the wheel. The other demands precision with the ball.

The margin for error is tiny.

When Street Culture Meets Basketball

For South Africa‘s action-sports community, this is exactly the kind of crossover that grabs attention.

Basketball has been growing beyond traditional courts, particularly through streetball, lifestyle events and creative activations. At the same time, South Africa‘s spinning culture has developed its own identity and passionate following.

“Man vs Car Spinning” puts those two worlds into the same frame.

It also shows why stunts like this work so well on social media. There is an immediate visual hook: a spinning car, a basketball, a world-famous shooting coach and one seemingly impossible target.

Then comes the payoff.

The shot drops.

After successfully completing the challenge, Lethal Shooter summed up the moment in the video with a simple line:

“That’s Why I’m in South Africa”

Lethal Shooter

It is a fitting reaction to a stunt built around something South Africa does particularly well — taking existing sporting and cultural disciplines and pushing them into unexpected territory.

The challenge may look chaotic from the outside, but the successful shot is anything but random.

It requires timing, repetition, confidence and the ability to execute when the conditions are constantly changing.

For Lethal Shooter, that is the challenge.

For Sam Sam, it is controlled chaos behind the wheel.

And for everyone watching, it is another reminder that when basketball leaves the court, the possibilities get seriously wild.
