The Husqvarna Racing Team launched their season with a bang at the National Enduro Championship Series opening race in the captivating KwaZulu-Natal region. With a revamped format featuring a sprint race on Friday followed by a two-day enduro on Saturday and Sunday, the series promised excitement and challenge in equal measure. Sunday added a unique twist with two designated timed sections, adding a strategic element to the riders’ day.
Travis Teasdale and Luke Walker emerged as the stars of the event, dominating their respective classes with remarkable skill and determination. Teasdale, competing in the esteemed E2 class, showcased exceptional talent by clinching victory in all three rounds, firmly placing his Husqvarna in the spotlight. Reflecting on his triumphant weekend, Teasdale expressed satisfaction with his performance despite the grueling physical demands, emphasizing the thrill of the special test racing format.
In the E1 class, Luke Walker demonstrated his prowess by securing a third-place finish in round one, battling hard for second place in round two, and ultimately claiming victory in round three. Walker embraced the new format, finding it both exhilarating and strategic, particularly relishing the intensity of the sprint race on Friday and the technical challenges of the special tests on Sunday.
Team Manager Megan Prinsloo lauded the team’s exceptional performance, noting Teasdale and Walker’s outstanding achievements and expressing excitement for the upcoming rounds of the championship.
Meanwhile, the KTM Brother Leader Tread Enduro Team faced a weekend of trials and triumphs. Will Slater encountered mixed fortunes, with a promising start marred by a severe crash and subsequent leg injury, forcing him to withdraw from the remainder of the event. Despite the setback, Slater remains determined to bounce back stronger in the next round.
Dylan Jones navigated through a series of challenges, securing podium finishes despite encountering mishaps and injuries along the way. His resilience and determination were evident as he battled through pain and adversity to achieve commendable results.
Matthew Stevens, representing the high school class, delivered a stellar performance, claiming victory in both rounds. Stevens’ skillful riding and unwavering focus propelled him to success despite facing tough competition and occasional setbacks.
Team Manager Megan Prinsloo commended the team’s grit and determination, particularly highlighting Stevens’ impressive double win in the high school class.
