With fresh challenges presented by the new track, the team proved their mettle, securing multiple podium finishes in both Round 4 and Round 5.
Kerim Fitz-Gerald’s Senior Class Sweep
Kerim Fitz-Gerald led the charge, claiming victory in both rounds of the Senior class. Fitz-Gerald’s return to form after battling a wrist injury earlier in the season was nothing short of spectacular. His triumph in Upington marked the first time he completed full races this season, making his victories all the more satisfying.

Scott Heygate and Brad Cox in the Open Class
In the highly competitive Open Class, Scott Heygate and Brad Cox were relentless in their pursuit of victory. Heygate, despite narrowly missing out on the top spot, put in strong performances, securing second place overall in both rounds. His determination to overcome minor mistakes and push through the challenges of Round 5 highlighted his resilience.
“Both days were pretty good overall. A few small mistakes on my side kept me from the top step which I feel was achievable, but we still put in good points for the championship. It’s not over yet.”

Brad Cox, a seasoned rider, had a strong weekend despite facing challenges throughout the season. Cox battled from a far-back starting position in the time trial to claim podium finishes in both rounds, showing grit and determination, particularly when faced with mechanical issues in Round 5.
“It was great to come to a new venue and destination. The organizers did a fantastic job, and I’m happy to have put it on the podium. We’re definitely heading into the final round with momentum on our side.”

Matthew Wilson also impressed in the double-header, finishing second in both rounds. His battles with rival Luke Walker in Round 4 set the stage for a thrilling final round in Bloemfontein, where the championship title is still within reach.
“It was a tough but great weekend all in all. The battles were intense, but that’s what makes racing exciting. I’m happy to be on the podium and really looking forward to Bloem – it’s going to be a thrilling finish to the season.”

The Husqvarna Racing team also had a stellar weekend, with Davin Cocker and Luke Walker stealing the spotlight. Cocker, despite battling a knee injury, claimed victory in both rounds of the Open Class, showcasing his resilience and determination.
“It was a tough weekend, especially after injuring my knee. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I had to push through the pain, and I’m thrilled to have brought home both wins.”

“I had a real great weekend. The track was challenging, but I just focused on doing my best and giving it my all. Super happy to get two wins in two days and extend my points lead for the final round.”
