South African extreme enduro legend Wade Young has announced that he will not be competing in the Roof of Africa this year, following an unexpected injury. Young revealed on Instagram that he sustained burns last week while attempting to control a fire at a local dump site.
In the post, he shared that the incident required immediate recovery time and made it impossible for him to line up for this year’s event. Despite the setback, Young expressed optimism, saying he is already on the mend and hopes to return to racing soon.
He also took the opportunity to thank fans, friends, and supporters for their messages and well-wishes, as well as offering encouragement to all the riders gearing up for the iconic Roof of Africa challenge.
While his absence will certainly be felt, Young’s spirit and determination remain evident. Fans across the world will be eagerly awaiting his return to the track once fully recovered.
