The final round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup 2025 at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, delivered pure drama and emotion as Jackson Goldstone (Santa Cruz Syndicate) and Marine Cabirou (Canyon CLLCTV Factory Team) emerged victorious in the Men’s and Women’s Elite Downhill categories.
For Goldstone, the day marked a historic moment. The 21-year-old Canadian clinched his first UCI Downhill World Cup overall title in front of an electrified home crowd, becoming the only Canadian in history to win both the Downhill World Championship and World Cup overall titles in the same season.
Goldstone Masters Mont-Sainte-Anne for a Historic Home Win
Heading into the final round, Loïc Bruni (Specialized Gravity) held a narrow points lead over Goldstone after a season-long duel. But the finale took a shocking turn when Bruni suffered a thigh injury during practice and couldn’t start the final run — opening the door for Goldstone to seal the championship.

Rising to the pressure, Goldstone delivered a blistering run of 3:30.096, more than two seconds ahead of Austria’s Andreas Kolb (YT Mob). Luca Shaw (Canyon CLLCTV Factory Team) charged hard but settled for second, just behind the Canadian phenom.

The victory gave Goldstone his fifth World Cup win of the season, equalling Aaron Gwin’s record for most Men Elite wins in a single year.
“That was the run of my life. It wasn’t pretty, but I gave it everything. The crowd was amazing and cheered me all the way. It didn’t feel right not battling Loïc to the end, but I’m proud of what we achieved this season.”

Goldstone’s triumph also made him only the second Canadian male to ever win the overall title, following the late Steve Smith’s 2013 success.
Cabirou Finishes Season in Style
In the Women’s Elite race, France’s Marine Cabirou capped off her season with a masterful run, securing her 11th career World Cup victory — and repeating her 2024 win on the same Mont-Sainte-Anne track.

The race was packed with drama. Newly crowned World Cup champion Valentina Höll (YT Mob) suffered a flat tyre, while local favorite Gracey Hemstreet (Norco Race Division) crashed out. Cabirou remained composed, building speed through the lower sections of the course to post a winning time of 4:01.617.

Nina Hoffmann (Santa Cruz Syndicate) came close but finished just 0.7 seconds behind in second, with Myriam Nicole (Commencal/Muc-Off by Riding Addiction) rounding out the podium in third.
“I’m so happy to take the win today. It’s the perfect way to finish the season. I love this track and the crowd — they gave me so much energy.”

Höll still topped the overall World Cup standings, followed by Hemstreet in second and Tahnée Seagrave (Orbea/FMD Racing) in third.
