TEAM SILVER CROWNED CHAMPIONS AT RED BULL LOCKED IN 2026

The pressure was intense, the stakes were high, and the atmosphere inside the Bellville Velodrome reached electrifying levels as Team Silver emerged victorious at the inaugural Red Bull Locked In 2026.

Held from 6–8 March 2026 in Cape Town, the groundbreaking LAN event brought together some of South Africa’s most passionate gamers for a 48-hour endurance tournament centred around Apex Legends. The competition blended traditional esports gameplay with real-life challenges, surprise mechanics, and multiple game modes, creating a high-energy spectacle where every decision mattered.

After navigating the demanding format, Team Silver, led by captain Collins “Skarra” Manyame, proved their resilience and tactical brilliance to secure the championship title.

A LAN Event Like No Other

Red Bull Locked In introduced a unique format to South Africa’s LAN gaming scene. Teams competed across Battle Royale, Wildcard, and Mixtape modes, while unexpected twists — including strategic “captain cards” — added layers of unpredictability to the tournament.

Esports commentator and host Sam “Tech Girl” Wright, who helped guide audiences through the action, described the event as a wild ride.

“Three words to describe tonight’s event? Wild, rad, brutal fun. The craziest moment was when one of the captains used a ‘give me that’ card to steal another captain’s move. It completely changed the game.”

said Wright

The intense strategic elements kept both players and spectators on edge, while the LAN setting amplified the excitement.

“LAN events are special because we all get to come together. Gaming online with friends is great, but it’s even better when they’re sitting right next to you and you can fist bump them after an epic play.”

Wright explained

The Road to Victory

Team Silver’s victory did not come easily. According to captain Collins “Skarra” Manyame, the team had to fight their way up the rankings after initially being underestimated.

“When you looked at our team on paper, a lot of people didn’t really believe in us. But we pushed from the bottom to the finals, and now we’re here at the top.”

Manyame said

He credited the win to smart strategy and team balance.

“One of the key strategies was separating teammates according to their strengths and ranks so they could perform best in different game modes. It worked out perfectly and ultimately got us the win.”

he explained

Manyame also praised standout performances from teammates including Uwam Serl, who delivered crucial clutch moments that boosted the team’s score during the competition.

Tough Competition

Despite claiming the title, Team Silver faced fierce competition throughout the weekend. Manyame singled out Team Yellow as the toughest opponent of the tournament.

“Looking at our last game, there were only two kills separating us. Team Yellow really gave us a run for our money.”

he said

Clutch plays defined many matches, including one unforgettable moment during the Crucible challenge where a player secured a kill using only a knife against opponents with firearms — a play that instantly became one of the tournament’s highlights.

Community at the Heart of the Event

Beyond the competitive action, Red Bull Locked In celebrated the spirit of gaming culture. Fans, creators, and players shared the same space throughout the weekend, recreating the nostalgic community feel of classic LAN gatherings.

For Manyame, the LAN atmosphere made the victory even more meaningful.

“LAN, LAN, LAN — I’ve never felt anything like this. This is the most surreal moment that I’ll carry for the rest of my life.”

he said

The event was documented throughout the weekend by NAG Magazine, the official media partner, capturing the personalities, intense gameplay, and memorable moments that unfolded inside the Velodrome.

A New Chapter for South African Esports

From dramatic in-game clashes to real-world challenges testing endurance and nerves, Red Bull Locked In proved that South Africa’s esports scene is ready for bold new formats that push both players and fans beyond traditional competition.

For Team Silver, the championship represents more than just a trophy — it’s a symbol of teamwork, adaptability, and the growing strength of the local gaming community.
